This real medieval castle is well worth a visit or you take a tour. You can walk to the top for a great view of the city. Very easy to get to as its located in the centre of town. There are also great restaurants and bars in the castle environs.

You can travel there by the S3 bus from Gloucester Green bus station or the number 7 bus from George Street. It is famous for being the birthplace of Winston Churchill, one of our greatest prime minister, and as a baroque masterpiece. It has been used for many movie locations, including James Bond. The grounds are beautiful, with a maze, lake, butterfly house and narrow gauge railway. There is a cafe and shop selling upmarket items, including clothes, toys, household goods and alcohol such as boutique gins. A copy of the steeply arched bridge in Venice, this bridge was built in 1914 and joins the old and new buildings of Hertford College. You can find this at the end of Broad Street where it meets Castle Street.
