It is a one mile, flat walk from the apartment. This museum has just gone through an expansion. It is housed in an old Art Deco armory style building. It is a part of Volunteer Park and admission is included with purchase of a Seattle Art Museum ticket. Otherwise, the fee is small. They have a rotation of modern showings along with the permanent collection.

Boutique Shopping

My favorite neighborhood retail therapy.
If you love jewelry, ceramics, accessories and great shopping, you won't want to miss this store. It is an easy walk at the northern end of the Broadway retail strip. They focus on showing the work of local (and not) artists of ceramics, jewelry, fabrics, and more. This is the sister store to the much larger Kobo in the International District.

Our focus is on our wines, sourced with care from family owned, small production bodegas from all over the wine (and sake, and beer) producing world. Here, we pair our beverage offerings with a food menu of simply prepared dry aged and cured meats, cooked in our open fireplace, and local seafood, served raw, cured or smoked in our passive heat masonry smoker. We have a small bread program, as well as a selection of vegetables, prepared pickled or roasted. Our beverage and food offerings rotate daily.

Food is an essential part of all family and social interactions in the Middle East where people grow up with intense flavors, colorful, vibrant foods fresh from the marketplace, prepared simply and with a lot of passion. Aromatic herbs fill the streets and a spirit of warmth and generosity exudes welcome at any table. Here at mamnoon, we share these strengths brought with us from Lebanon and Syria to the new world of Seattle – where modern curiosity, compassion, progressive values and tolerance are paving the way for harmonious integration and celebration of cultures and flavors.

The Pioneer Inn and Tavern Law legalized drinking in public bars and saloons. The Golden Age of cocktails thrived for nearly a century until the 1919 Volstead Act almost destroyed the craft of the American bartender by outlawing the production and pleasure of alcoholic beverages. However, in hidden rooms and dark basements, thirsty patrons still sought spirits. And so the Speakeasy was born, booming until the repeal of Prohibition in 1933. Nearly another century after Prohibition’s repeal, left only with fond memories and old bar manuals, the art of mixing drinks is alive today thanks to the efforts of dedicated bartenders, historians and drinkers alike. It’s because of their diligence and passion that the pleasures of artfully crafted cocktails, fine wine and masterfully prepared food has kept the spirits of the night dancing on our tongues and in our hearts. Welcome to the celebration of our history.
