San Juan is the next town closest to San Pedro. It has a more local vibe but much to offer visitors as well. It's fine to walk there and take in views of the Lake on the way, and hop a quick tuk tuk back. Recommended: coffee farm tour, hike up to the new mirador (look-out platform), yarn dying workshop, and choose any one of the cafes or restaurants with international options.

Have to recommend ordering their super cheesy lasagna. Our tradition is to request to dine on the very top of the hotel terrace, they are happy to serve you there, and share the huge portion. It's a VIP experience. (Note the lasagna can take 45min to an hour to prepare but enjoying drinks from the top while waiting in salivating anticipation, is worth it).

Very flavorful food in the restaurant, I crave the mushroom risotto. Inside the plates are not as big and little more expensive than some other places, but prepared to a high standard. Cheaper options from the street window are fast and big, great breakfast burrito or quick French fries for a snack.
