In-between the Dales and the Lakes Sedbergh is known for its' bookshops and lovely cafes. It's a great drive, about 45 minutes and you could combine with a trip to the remote village of Dent.

Now you are really in the Dales. Rustic hamlet at the head of Littondale, lovely gentle walks by the river or along the track to Foxup or more strenuous hikes up into the fells. Don’t miss the tiny honesty shop selling hot drinks and cakes!

Great indoor and outdoor play areas. You have to have a meal in the restaurant to use the inside areas but even if you just have an ice cream you can use the outdoor areas. Eat inside a school bus!

Park in Stainforth village (5 min drive from Langcliffe), cross the main road and it’s a 5 min walk down a very steep little lane (don’t attempt to drive down as it ends in a vary narrow packhorse bridge). Alternatively you can follow the Ribble Way from below Langcliffe - this can be extremely muddy in the winter though! Up the other side of the bridge you can pop into Knights Table cafe.
