Food Scene

For a uniquely New Orleans experience visit Cajun Seafood. We recommend getting a few pounds of boiled crawfish and/or boiled shrimp. You can enjoy it by the pool (just clean up after yourselves). During peak hours (lunch, dinner and weekends) expect a long line but don't be discouraged. The line moves quickly and it's worth the wait! They close at 8:30pm sharp! So don't waste any time.

Drinks & Nightlife

This spot is literally a few blocks from the house and the music, drinks, and vibe are always fantastic! Any day of the week. A unique special treat is finding Kermit there most days of week, especially on Mondays! The building is small and has a dive feel, but there is also a fabulous outside space with several different places to hangout with friends. Many times you will also find free freshly cooked food available - which Kermit prepares himself!

Historical African-American Parish. Church founded in 1841 by free African Americans, resulting in the historical War of the Pews. Stop by and pay reverence to the Tomb of the Unknown Slave. A shrine consisting of outsize marine chains welded together with shackles and iron balls to form a huge, fallen cross. The grim, rusting monument standing outside the church honors those countless slaves who perished uncounted and unnamed.
