Chill neighborhood coffee spot. Plenty of space to sit with a friend. Outside seating is lovely in warm weather.

Love their sandwiches! All vegan. Great place to meet up with friends for a coffee or lunch. Can also be a good place to work/study. Be ready for hardcore/punk on the sound system and local alt-customers.

Started by two Temple graduates, this is a great spot to grab a bite to eat while exploring Center City. Food is fresh, fast, filling, and reasonably priced. If it's nice out, grab a stir-fry to go and head down to Rittenhouse Park to take in the city.

Sightseeing

Unique and thoughtful exhibits. This is a great hidden gem right in the middle of Center City. If you are in the area doing other site seeing, it is worth stopping in to tour their galleries. Small but inviting.

Simply a must-see at least once in a lifetime. If you love Post-Impressionist art, art history, or truly unique museum experiences, this is possibly the best the US has to offer. Be prepared to see A LOT of Renoir. First Sunday of the month is free but can be crowded and hectic.

You can spend hours at this museum. The main audio tour is very well done and subsequent audio tours cover every possible subject as it related to incarceration in the US. This is a must-see for lovers of history. The neighborhood it is situated in is also lovely. Really enjoyable walk to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and other museums.

Sit on a bench and enjoy bustling Philadelphia. Great place to take food from one of the many restaurants in the nightborhood. Or take a break from shopping on Walnut street at the many boutiques and stores. On Saturdays, the park holds a large farmers market where you can get fresh flowers, baked goods, produce, and local handmade goods.

Nature

One of my favorite parts of the city. If you like hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding, this is the spot to do it. Hours of trails to travel. The park runs along a shallow river with a car-free dirt and gravel road to one side. Bike rental is available in several neighborhoods that boarder the park. There are several social meetups that come to The Wiss, weekly and monthly.

I volunteer at this refuge once a month. If you enjoy birding, it is the place to go in Philadelphia. The Heinz has an educational visitor center and events throughout the summer that are great for the whole family.

Shopping

This is my favorite bookstore in the city. Independently owned and operated. They have the most amazing selection for such a small store. I stop in regularly to see what is new. Staff are helpful and friendly.
