This one is out of the way and you will need a car to go here. Its one of my favorite seafood places in the city. If you want to try a real local seafood place then Seither's is the spot. Boiled and fried, they also have a lot of fresh seared and raw fish. I love this place. My favorite is the Gouda Monster salad loaded with fried oysters, bacon, and of course aged Gouda.

Charlies is as old school cool as it gets. It's a steak house that's been in business since the 1930's. They have no menu, and what they do have is prepared in much the same way it always has been. They pretty much always have a filet, ribeye, and T-bone. Cuts do change, but they always have these. A wedge salad, thin cut onion rings, creamed spinach, scalloped potatoes, sauteed mushrooms. That's the gist of it. If you love steak, you will love Charlies.

Mardi Gras Indians started as escaped slaves that ventured into the swamps and being taken in by natives. Audubon Park is gorgeous place to spend a lazy afternoon. There is a walking/running/bike trail that goes through the park. Take the St Charles street car from the quarter, get off at the park, spend a few hours waling around then hop back on the street car and get off at the Delachaise for lunch.

Located in New Orleans’ Audubon Park, so-called The Tree of Life (officially the Étienne de Boray Oak) is not only one of the city’s premier tree-climbing spots, it’s also a surprisingly great spot for giraffe watching.
The gnarled, knobby tree is a favorite among the locals that know about it. It is noted for it’s eminently climbable branches with scraps of stray ropes and handles to help you climb up into its canopy. Lots of people also choose to have their wedding photos taken under the branches.
The real secret when visiting the Tree of Life is realizing that it abuts one wall of the Audubon Zoo, specifically that of the giraffe cage. So if you go at the right time of day, you can clim

East DriveLocated in New Orleans’ Audubon Park, so-called The Tree of Life (officially the Étienne de Boray Oak) is not only one of the city’s premier tree-climbing spots, it’s also a surprisingly great spot for giraffe watching.
The gnarled, knobby tree is a favorite among the locals that know about it. It is noted for it’s eminently climbable branches with scraps of stray ropes and handles to help you climb up into its canopy. Lots of people also choose to have their wedding photos taken under the branches.

Maybe you’ll spot a pelican swooping down for a fish, or spy the egrets, herons, ducks, loons and more. The route sweeps through residential areas with an array of architectural styles from French Colonial to lavish modern manses. Or enjoy the sights and sounds of cultural events from the serenity of the bayou. Total route distance is about 8 easy miles round trip, perfect for beginners and experts. Its super fun, and we kayak in the Bayou all the time! Pro tip, ask me for a small ice chest to take with you.
