You should just go here while you're here. Great brick oven pizza, fun ambiance, and Paulie is usually floating around saying hi and taking care of everyone. A neighborhood institution, but go early or be prepared to wait - they don't take reservations.

Lively restaurant on the corner of McCarren Park. It's a bit of a scene as it's creeping toward Williamsburg, but it's fun and the food is great. Also small and usually busy, so go early or be prepared to wait for a table.

There are a few Mexican joints in the neighborhood, but this one is the best. It's fairly authentic Mexican food - not Tex-Mex, which we like. It's a no frills hole-in-the-wall type place so don't expect anything fancy. Cheap beers in a can and the TV is always on.

It's a bar on a barge. Another place just to go because it's fun and unique. Only open in the warm months and get s very crowded around sunset. Great views of the East River and NYC skyline.

We're lucky to have one of the best little parks in New York at the end of our street. Bring some food and/or drink and a blanket if the weather is nice. Lots of dogs and kids, but friendly and not overwhelming. They project movies on the warehouse wall on Friday nights in the summer. Walk out on the recreational pier at night for literally the best view of the NYC skyline around.

The biggest and busiest park in the area. Great for a weekend stroll. Lots of people and dogs, several sports fields and lots of action. Tons of restaurants and bars surrounding. Farmer's market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
