Food Scene

I love this place! Any time of day is good, breakfast, lunch or dinner meals have not disappointed. This is a cafe for all, locals and tourists alike, singles, groups and families; it has got a nice sophisticated look about it but is quite homely at the same time. The cafe overlooks a main road, which many take to go towards the beach. Prices are incredibly decent given the lovely atmosphere, service is really good and the owner is a nice humble man who gets on really well with his staff, but also takes the effort to say hello to his customers when it allows. It's my favourite eatery in Agadir by far. Free WiFi is an added bonus. Approximately 10mins walk from the apartment.

The best couscous in Agadir, every Friday for 70dh, with beautiful views overlooking the beach promenade and sea; service is good and friendly too. We like to come here at least once every time we are in Agadir, and take our usual seats on the terrace for the magnificent panoramic views over the beach. Approximately 25mins walk from the apartment.

Another great little place for lovers of traditional Moroccan tagine meals and couscous. Really decent prices, between 30-40dh for a meal; family run and very friendly. Owner speaks French and Arabic, but I have also heard him converse, quite well it seemed, with German tourists too. Not too far from the beach too. Approximately 25mins walk from the apartment.

Nice little place with friendly staff, although not all staff speak French or English very well; it's a cafe/restaurant where the prices are really decent and the food is generally good. I like this cafe for its breakfast, partcularly the Amazigh breakfast, and it is lovely to sit in especially when the sun is shining bright. It is approximately 1 minute walk from the apartment.

This is a restaurant, cafe and bakery. Really nice all round. Food is delicious, not a huge fan of their breakfasts, but there's such a variety to choose from, that it's still worth a trip to find the one that is just right for you! Really busy, whatever time of day you go, but surprisingly there's always a table available. Quite middle class from the looks of the Moroccans who frequent this place, but is a very popular place with toursits too. Prices are in the middle range I would say. Approximately 15mins walk from the apartment. Great traditional Moroccan sweets sold in their bakery too! I always buy a box to take home in my luggage before leaving Agadir.

If you like fresh fish, cooked to order, then this is a place to go. It's a love it or dislike it kind of place, but not hate; it's worth a trip just to have a look and witness the vibrancy of the place. Many little restaurants eager to serve you, and you can get a full meal for very little compared to the more touristic restaurants; family friendly and very much a hit with the locals.

Patisserie Timmit on Rue de Marrakech is a lovely small Moroccan bakery/cafe that caters to predominately the local community. You can get freshly made croissants, pain au raisin or pain au choclat as well as a whole host of breakfast pastries. Have your pastry with a hot drink or 100% freshly prepared fruit juice OR all the above for approximately 30DH. We love this place for its relaxed atmosphere, despite its popularity, their prices are really competitive and the service is really good and honest. You can also get homemade Moroccan biscuits, that can be enjoyed in store or you can buy a box of what you would like. Most of the staff speak French. 5-10 minutes walk.

Good food can be found here with amazing views of the sea; I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner here, not on the same day mind you, and have not been disappointed. However, recently this restaurant put up a transparent wall around its terrace, which I am not a fan off personally as it slightly obstructs from the clear sea view. Live music is played most night and weekends.

Sightseeing

located at the end of the Agadir beach promanade, this is a nice place to walk through with loads of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Although personally these cafes and restaurants are over priced when compared with those just outside the Marina for the exact same thing. The Marina with its yachts and even a pirate ship are nice to look at, especially on a day with blue skies and sun. Here you will also find recognizable high street stores such as Zara, Aldo, Stradivarius, Parfois, MAC cosmetics and the like.

Another beautiful place to visit that is located just outside of Agadir, less than an hour away by car or public transport. Famous for its surfing activities, but this village is also a quant place to walk around too for the day, or half a day. A bus (L32) can get you there for less than 10DH single journey from Avenue Mohammed V, by the Wilaya-Jardin Belevedere.

Nice little Berber town on the Atlantic coast and has beautiful views. Roughly 2 hours drive along the coast from Agadir, itself a picturesque journey. Sidi Ifni has an old Spanish charm about it, it's serene and picturesque, very artsy/bohemian in nature. When my husband and I made this journey to Sidi Ifni, we stopped in two other points of interest, making it a whole day's trip. The first stop was in Aglou village and the second in Legzira Beach. Worth a trip, especially if you have a car, otherwise coach or grande taxi trips are possible.

A beautiful beach. A real must especially to see the natural wonders of the Legzira beach rock arches, whilst you still can. There were three arches but since 2016 there are now only two left standing. It is a sight to see that leaves you an awe of what beauty nature has to offer us. To understand what I am talking about, search Legzira arches on Google images, but remember to see it in person and walk beneath the arches is more impressive.

Beautiful sandy beach, only 1 hour from Agadir along the coastal road. It's a fishing village, with fishermen still active in parts. Along the beach you will find little caves that have been dug into the cliffs, some with doors attractively designed to give privacy within. It's a great place to just get away to for a day or two and enjoy its simple, serene surrounding; Tiznit is the nearest city.

The little Marrakech of the South. A walled city, which is impressive to look at and you can walk along parts of the wall giving an impressive view of the area from a great height. Within the walls is not as interesting to walk around as outside the walls, but there is a souk within, which is bustling but not to the same extent as in Marrakech. It's only about an hour's drive from Agadir and so it is worth a trip, but probably no more than half a day or a night.

Everything and anything can be found in this famous Souk. The closest gate to our home is gate 10, 10 minutes walk away; but gate entry number 6 is a good place to start as it's at the bottom end of the souk and less tourist heavy. So, it is a good place to ease yourself into the souk, from here you will be able to walk through the grocery part section, spices vendors and towards all of the traditional fashion and crafts stalls/shops. Don't go on a Monday though, it's closed; and on Friday early afternoons most stalls will be closed for the weekly prayer, so it will be very quiet from approximately 11:30-14:00. Public religious holidays, will see some stalls closed too from 1 day to 3 days.

As the name suggests, this is a bird valley but it is also home to goats! It's open to the public free of charge and it's something to do when you're around the beach area. It's approximately 15-20 minutes walk away from the apartment.

An amazing conservation park/botanical garden for Crocodiles. Beautifully built and very educational. There are clear signposts that lead you around the park so that you don't miss a thing; on this path you will see the Nile crocodiles in their natural habitats and manner, you will also see turtles and lizards on your walk around the park. I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful a place this was. 75DH for adult entry and 45DH for under 12s. Definitely worth a visit!

Entertainment & Activities

It's a great beach that is clean and well maintained. It has a wide promenade and that is about 6km in length , therefore it's great for a long walk or even to exercise on, particularly as it has exercise equipment every so often that you can use. Restaurants and cafes can be found on one half of the promenade and luxury hotels/resorts on the other half. Live music from the restaurants, as well as on the promenade, are commonplace. It ends just before the King's palace, where friendly soldiers can be seen to prevent trespassers, as there is no actual fence to divide the King's part of the beach and the public's beach. Beach is 20-25minutes walk from the apartment.

Essentials

Everyday essentials for the home and kitchen. Quality food and goods at relatively competitive prices to local stores, with local as well as imported goods. Marjane is the Moroccan name for the French supermarket, Auchan, and so you will no doubt find all, if not most, of your home comforts here; however, alcohol is not sold here as it once used to be many years ago. Open from 9am - 10pm everyday, except on public religious holidays, when they will close for at least one day to allow staff to celebrate with their families.

This French supermarket opened in Autumn 2018, and is much closer to the apartment than Marjane for essentials. As a European chain it will no doubt carry much of your favourite brands, but alcohol is not sold here; it is also only 10 minutes walk away from the house. It is a small supermarket, so I would still go to Marjane for the weekly shopping, especially as prices would be slightly cheaper at Marjane. This Carrefour opens at 9am and closes at 10pm everyday.
