Well known for that bygone era when the desert was just a little stop between Phoenix and LA. They have the BEST Date Shakes in the Valley, plus they have a wonderful cafe located out back for brunch, lunch and limited dinner evenings. There is also a walking area, gift shop and garden area. They also have a nice gift shop full of local items you can't find anywhere else. Worth a visit!

Beautiful, quaint, spiritual mountain town located about a 1 hour drive from La Quinta up scenic Hwy. 74. Lot's of restaurants, shops, hiking, rock climbing and the air is generally about 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the desert.
Located along the eastern side of the Salton Sea this place is definitely interesting. It's worth looking up the history of this historic site before setting off on your adventure as it will make this place even more magical than one would think.

Located east of the valley on Hwy. 86 about an hour from La Quinta. Borrego Springs has a nice visitors center which will give you maps of the wildflowers, and......the historic, gigantic metal sculptures of Ricardo Breceda which seem to take to life on your drive. They are magnificent and worth the drive. Borrego Springs is also a small historic town with lot's to offer from shopping and restaurants. It is also the gateway to Julian which is a lovely drive up the mountain to this historic little town well known for their pies.
