New York is a very crowed and busy place. If you are planning on traveling with your children on the subway or bus take plan a little extra time to walk to the back of the train station or bus and there will be more seats available in that train car or further back on the bus. It is a common mistake to sit in the first train car you see as that will be the most busy train car with lots of people getting on and off . As well as the bus sitting on the rear end of the bus next to a window will help you get to your destination more efficiently!

When traveling in New York especially on the subway you will often hear Uptown and Downtown. This is the direction which the train is headed and will help you from getting lost when navigating this big city. For example , you are already located in Manhattan & you are looking to go to 42nd street. You will need a Downtown train. You will know your train is going the right way because the numbers will continue to go down. Therefore , if you used the Downtown train on your way to 42nd street you will simply take the train Uptown to go back to the Air bnb !
