This historic Civil War Battlefield has a museum, small store and a beautiful cemetery and driving/biking tour. You can also hike through the wooded trails. This connects to our Greenway System.
In the summertime they have a lantern tour of the national cemetery that is a MUST DO! In January they have reenactment of the Civil War battle. In December the grave sites are decorated with beautiful wreaths by local military- a true chill bump moment!

The Greenway system in Murfreesboro meanders beside the Stones River. It is a wonderful place to walk, jog, bike ride, or take a fishing pole and throw in a line! The wetland trails travel through flooded willow swamps, mature hardwoods, and open water wetlands that provide for a wide variety of species to be found. Spring and fall songbird migration can be excellent. Adjacent to the Discovery Center off of Broad Street.

This is a hidden gem in Murfreesboro! It is a delightful place to throw rocks in the creek, fish, picnic, or just enjoy the beauty of the water fall and nature. There is also a Greenway Trailhead at this location. Not recommending you go there alone and children should be supervised as the water can be swift at times.

Fun park for children! Located on Old Fort Parkway. Plenty of spots for a picnic nearby. Located next to the Greenway also. Tennis courts are also located in this area along with Old Fort Park Golf Course.

Fountains at Gateway is a vibrant retail/restaurant complex where you can eat, shop and play! The buildings are situated around a central plaza with multiple fountains and pocket parks. In the winter there is an ice skating rink, and in the summer a splash pad and green space for kicking a ball, playing corn hole or in the evenings, watching an outdoor movie. Be sure to visit the soda fountain after having fun in the splash pad! This venue connects to the Greenway and Gateway Island Park. There are yummy restaurants, a coffee shop and outdoor seating in this delightful spot!

The 2021 Murfreesboro Farmers Market in the historic square is open every Saturday at 8:00am beginning May 22nd and generally runs through October. You will find organic local produce, grass-fed meats, gourmet treats, homemade bread, plants and all kinds of deliciousness here. Highly recommend!
