Saddleback Mountain is a mountain near Kiama in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. The mountain rises to about 600 metres (2,000 ft) above sea level on the Illawarra escarpment and has views of Noorinan Mountain, 662 metres (2,172 ft) above sea level, and Barren Grounds Plateau to the west and south to Coolangatta Mountain and Pigeon House Mountain to Ulladulla, and north over Lake Illawarra, the Illawarra escarpment and to the Cronulla Sandhills and Kurnell Oil Refinery on a clear day.

The Barren Grounds Nature Reserve is a protected nature park located in the Southern Highlands region of NSW. The reserve is part of the 7,334-hectare (18,120-acre) Budderoo and Barren Grounds Important Bird Area which contains large numbers of endangered eastern bristlebirds, as well as smaller numbers of pilotbirds and rockwarblers, in a mosaic of sandstone heath and eucalypt woodland habitats.

The Kiama Coast Walk is one of the best walking trails in Australia, with spectacular vistas, ancient rock formations, beautiful beaches and fascinating heritage. You can spot humpback and other majestic whales migrating along the coast from vantage points between May and November.
The 22km walk is best broken into three sections and completed over two or three days. There are railway stations and parking near various stages along walk. Highlights of the walk -Minnamurra River, for picnics and kayaking, Cathedral Rocks, extraordinary volcanic formations
