All Aussie coffee is good, this is amazing. A close 12 minute walk from home and a nice seat outside with a blanket and you can watch the world go by.

Hand's down the best Thai this side of the harbour bridge. Tapas style Thai with interesting menu selection that is not your run-of-the-mill. This is our steady date night go to and we've never been disappointed :)

Absolutely brilliant breakfast on a charming wrap around verandah that is located in the old military base in Mosman. Leafy views and a cute gift shop located inside. Don't go past the eggs benedict!

The Quintessential Balmoral Experience - breakfast at the Boatshed. This is the number 1 breakfast in my book. Big portions of delicious food....and ( just in case you have a reason to celebrate) they serve champagne. You might think I'm nuts, but a little sunshine on your face, the sound of the waves, a big heaping breakfast and a glass of champagne? Case closed. The weekender to end all weekenders. Go ahead, surprise someone with this one!

Authentic, mouth-watering Italian and brick-fired pizzas here. Though great for anyone this is perfect for families or groups because they can easily seat large numbers and there is a 'plaza' out the front where the kids can run around while you enjoy a conversation. No fuss, great spot to meet up with friends.

Sightseeing

You can walk from our house to Taronga and it's truly an outstanding iconic landmark in Sydney. Don't miss it! However, a note to foodies, the food at the zoo is a shocker. Best way to do it, pack a picnic ( basket in the closet) and set up at one of the many picneic tables where you can have a glimpse of the Sydney Harbour. Lunch= pure free magic.

From George's head you have a panoramic view of the harbour and the two headlands through which all vessels travel to get in and out. It's just a lovely way to get a concept of the rich geography in Sydney from a spectacular vantagepoint. It's located in the historic military base too! Free and fabulous.

Manly is a great day trip for it's beachy feel and the amount there is to do. To get there, take the ferry from our house to the CBD and then another back out direct to Manly. From shopping to the beach and onto really good food choices, this a great family day trip. The vibe is much more Aussie Beach and you'll feel like you're in a completely different location when you're only 30 minutes north of Sydney!

Parks & Nature

This 45 minute trail is just along the water's edge. Breathtaking views while you make your way from Bronte to Bondi just in time to work up a thirst ( a drink at the iconic Icebergs $$$) or an appetite ( fabulous choices abound!) The walk is doable with a pram, but there are some stairs so be warned. It's not to strenuous so count young kids and spritely grandmas in for this one!

Arts & Culture

What makes the Barrack's special is that it's a real view on how Australia started as a penal colony -it's fun and interesting for any age, but the sweet spot is kids from about 6-14. Inside the original barracks the kids can try on convict uniforms, walk through the many rooms and even lay in the hammocks that were once beds. If you would love to share the history without your kids calling " ohhhh daaadddd, no more history!" Get the museum pass for a deal on all the museums together.

What Mosman lacks in bars it makes up for in designer women's apparel ( sorry gentlemen.) If you're a shopper, just go up to Military road. You'll find: Country Road, Camilla, Witchery, Mecca Cosmetics, T2 Tea House, Bianca Spender, and more. Do not pass up my favourite shoe shop: ZOMP.

Have you ever been to a liquor store with an actual tasting BAR? If you like your wine, you need to see this place. It's not the closest liquor store, but they have a tasting area with some really amazing options to try at the back!

Entertainment & Activities

Paddleboards be rented at The Boatshed ( yes same place as breakfast!) It's super easy to do and really fun. It's about $30 a hour and you can switch out with the kids ( or paddle with them on the front). Great, low impact fun for all.

This theatre is Art Deko with 6 smallish theatres. It's a nice rainy day activity if you don't want to travel too far ( its about 5 minutes drive from the house). Plus, there's lots of good little restaurants to catch a bite at before or after.
