Lough Key is an amazing and hugely spacial park with walking trails, a lake which you can hire a boat out onto with a boardwalk, a climbing adventure centre, a treetop walk, and a large playground for kids as well as picnic benches situated all around the park, allowig you to take in the beautiful views and surroundings while enjoying your lunch! or of course you can take some peaceful walks and jogs and just get lost in the surrounding nature, highly recommend a visit here!

Ballyfarnon is the closest small village that will stock all the essentials for food and other needs, the local people are very friendly and will be happy to help with any requirements you might have.

Ballyfarnon is the closest small village that will stock all the essentials for food and other needs, the local people are very friendly and will be happy to help with any requirements you might have.
The town of Boyle has a few more shops than Ballyfarnon, and is just 15-20 minutes from the Chalet. It has a large supermarket, a very high quality butchers, a train station, a library, a small park and a few smaller local shops amongst other things.

Carrick on Shannon is a lovely riverside town with more than a few nice cafes, a cinema, hairdressers, hotels, friendly pubs and wonderful restaurants, a lively night life, an art gallery, some larger supermarkets (eg Tesco, Boots etc) as well as having a very friendly and relaxed vibe about it, you can even go on a boat tour of the river Shannon from here! Would highly recommend a visit to Carrick, especially the restaurant Di Vino for anyone who is a fan of good Italian food!
