Right on the beach. Good for pizzas and seafood. Gets really busy so if going in the evening make a booking in advance. Otherwise during the day go and grab a table outside.

Lovely deli, also sells Malcolm Barnecutt's pasties which are my favourite! Richard and Roz are very friendly and know everything that's going on in Fowey. Richard's son, James, runs the butchers at Kilhallon.

Local butcher (and family friend) selling award winning sausages. James is found at the top of Driving Lane (road by the duck pond) at his factory site. He runs a small shop from the car park (cash only) or you can visit him in the main office where you can pay by card. Locally sourced meats, some of his own beef from his herd of Ruby Red Dexters. Much cheaper than the butcher in the village. Call him on 01726 814926 and you can place an order over the phone and then go and collect. Karen runs the office during the week, if you call and say that you are staying at the Karen Barnett's in the village and you've been recommended he'll be most helpful I'm sure!

Sightseeing

Beautiful little Cornish village with lots of nice shops and views across the River Fowey. Regatta week is 13th - 19th of August with the Red Arrows on the Thursday evening. Best viewed from Polruan side this year I have been told. There is a free car park at the top of town although this gets really full in the summer. It's just off Park Road, just before you get to the primary school there is a road off to the left and the car park is there on the right opposite the park. It's then a walk down into town. There's a large P&D car park off Hanson Drive slightly further down the road.

Lovely little beach. Has a watersports centre, brilliant ice cream shop (selling Treleavens which is the best), the Rashleigh Inn and Sams on the Beach so you don't have to take food with you. Car park is part way down the hill. Expect to have to reverse back or up the hill as you go/come back as it's a popular spot. Alternatively you can walk there along the coast path which you can pick up from the Par Beach car park. Takes about 30 minutes from Par. At high tide it's a popular spot for jumping off the wall into the sea, sometimes they have the pontoon out too so you can swim out to that. A lovely day out at the beach! We always choose the left hand side of the beach (habit)!!

Take the Bodinnick Ferry from Fowey and drive over to Lansallos/Lantic Bay. Quite isolated and lovey. There's a National Trust car park that you can park at and walk down to the beach. Put it in satnav as it's not easy to describe how to get there with a word limit!

Lots of lovey beaches around this area. Mother Ivey's, Harlyn, Daymer, Treyarnon and closer to Rock - Daymer Bay. St Merryn has a Malcolm Barnecutt's bakery, Spar shop, pizza restuarant etc so you can stop off here on the way/way back from the beach.

6 miles away, located on the River Fowey. Lots of antique shops, cafes and pubs. Good for a look around. There's Restormel Castle which was home to the Black Prince located 1 mile out of the town with great views from the top. It's an ancient ruin but you can walk around the top of the castle and take in the views. Worth a visit and entry is minimal!

Our only city! Cobbled streets and all the usual shopping, cathedral located in the heart of the city centre. Royal Cornwall Museum is here which is a fair size, lots of good places to eat but if you've come to Cornwall from another city you may well be underwhelmed as it's a very small city!

Well known for it's creative scene. Gets very busy in the summer so if you visit it might be best to go on the train. Change at Hayle onto the branch line for a scenic trip to St Ives. The Tate St Ives along with several other galleries and potteries. Very quaint Cornish Streets with all the usual seaside shops. Can also be reached by train - change at Truro.

Larger swimming pool complex with slide and separate lane swimming pool. Also on a campsite so it does get very busy but they control the numbers in and out. On the way from/to Mevagissey and near the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The campsite has a HubBox burger joint right on the beach too so you could make a whole day in this area sightseeing, stop in for a swim and burgers!
