City Road is a pickle of interesting restaurants, bars and cafes. Between this and Albany Road there is more or less something for everyone. We like Milgis for a social get together or MezzaLuna for Morocan and Lebanese food... and there are belly dancers at the weekends.

The Bay area is a group of restaurants and bars. There is an Imax, casino, comedy club, theatre, Dr Who exhibition, boat rides and more. Definately try the welshcakes from the welshcake shop, and bubblegum ice cream at Cadwaladrs.

My favourite Park in Cardiff. It's so beautiful, the arboretum is never endlingly amazing. You can start a walk up the Taff trail here, thought you'd have to plan for a couple of days trip! There are a couple of cafes in the park for dog walkers and families to take a break. All the dogs can have a complimentary treat and water stop too! You can usually here the music school rehearsals in the distance, up the top of the park is the football fields that'll eventually take you to Llandaff Cathedral.

The barrage isn't exactly a park, but it pretty green and is between the sea and the bay. It's one of the best and most unusual views of Cardiff. it has a large kids skate park, sand park and play-area. You can walk all the way across to Penarth Marina, the bridge is fascinating. It's nice to stop in the cafe on the waterfront, decide which boat you'd like to live on before heading back to the Cardiff side.

Joggers, fisherpeople, biking commuters and bird watchers all pass by this stretch of water and wander around these canals. A safe and quiet spot in the middle of the city. Admittedly could do with some TLC and the road is loud, but I always like to see visit the ducks and coots nests in the spring.

This is a tiny little park in Adamsdown, but for the history lovers and those with a morbid fascination, this park was a graveyard, hence the name. The surviving gravestones have been placed in a semi-circle around the middle of the park, in the summer the council is growing wild flower borders around it, while walking the dog it's an interesting spot to pass through.

This is my favourite childhood park. It has endless woods, huge field, mini golf, kids playground, and knap beach nearby. The fields are overlooked by an impressive old viaduct and I have always been fascinated by the airplanes zooming in to land at Rhoose Airport (Cardiff International Airport). The beach is stoney with big grey pebbles. A good place for fossil hunting!

This area called Rhoose Point is a housing estate built in an old quarry. Seems like an odd place to point out but the beach in front of it is really eerie and makes for a great walk. Very rocky, beware of falling rocks from the cliff, and watch the tide.

If you like a more rough and ready shopping experience try the market. You'll find lots of interesting stuff in a really nice old building. Get there now before all the hipsters move in and shovel out the good stuff. I love both the welshcake shops, the lady at the crystal store is so nice, the father/son team selling vintage menswear are gorgeous and I always take time to see the animals upstairs in the pet shop. Last visit I saw two quails and some very fluffy guinea pigs! CUTE!
