Sightseeing

While staying at my apartment, a must-see is this museum/zoo. It is a 3 minute walk! Entrance is free and there is a small charge only if you want an audio guide that is available in a few languages. Part of the park showcases animals and vegetation from the region. Another aspect of this historic park is the showcasing of old Guayaquil with original historic homes and many live performances of urban and rural life in the 19th century. Great for families with kids and also for a relaxing day date. Food is available for sale onsite to make it an all-day occasion! http://www.guayaquilesmidestino.com/en/nature/out-of-guayaquil/Historic-Park

Arts & Culture

Santa Ana Hill. (To arrive by car, it's about an 8 minute ride.) Located in Guayaquil's center, this is one of the main tourist attractions. Santa Ana hill has at the bottom of it, many art galleries, oftentimes throughout the year markets with work from local artisans, and restaurants. Going up the hill, visitors will be able to stop by at many of the bars, restaurants and other shops. And at the very top for those who will make it, there is a small St. Ana chapel and a lighthouse with views of the entire city. Beautiful day or night!

This new entertainment venue is just a quick walk from the apartment. It is a bustling open venue filled with outdoor seating for many. It has local and imported beers, bar food, and full restaurants good for large groups, with many of the dishes catered to sharing. More for adults but families with children are welcome too. There are also large screens showing the night's sport event.

Getting Around

Walking out of EntreRios gates by the Church entrance, there is a bus stop that will take you for about $0.35 to $0.50 to the city's main transportation hub, El Terminal Terrestre. Hop on any of the buses that say Terminal, (the one with turquoise leaves you across the terminal and will have to take the walking bridge, or the ones called Cisa or Santa Ana that both come from the town of Samborondon that leave you right inside the terminal) Taxis are also always an option and the best for late nights, early mornings, or rush service.

Ivan Car private taxi is my preferred method of transportation in the area and around Guayaquil because it has the most comfortable cars, pick-up service, text message updates, set prices for all destinations so there's no surprises, and most importantly, safety and reliability for locals and foreigners alike. You can reserve a pick up by calling from a local phone number and giving the house address and my name-they already know the Santander residence. You can find their business card in the apartment.

SAMBO TROLLEY: a new method of public transportation that serves the area on Via Samborondón from KM 1 where the apartment is located all the way up to KM 10 where they have their terminal. It is a new great option for getting around and seeing all that the area has to offer, from shops and restaurants, bars to also all that you need like the hospital, pharmacies and supermarkets. To use this service, you must use my pre-paid resident's card for a few people to ride. It is a service that is free for you and can only be paid for with a Santander household card. Guests taking advantage of this service MUST return my card to the apartment after use to avoid a $25 replacement fee upon checkout.
