This enormous 500-acre sculpture park in the Hudson Valley has more than a hundred sculptures situated in fields and woodlands. I try to go once a season to see how the art looks in the changing scenery. It’s like the Jurassic Park of sculpture—incredible scale. I’m always awed by the angular Mark Di Suvero towering over the hills. It makes a perfect fall or spring drive of an hour and change. Take a Zipcar and you’ll get two-for-one admission to the park.

Nature and art lovers unite. Storm King Art Center is a great option to please the whole family. Large-scale sculptures and site-specific commissions make up this 500 acre outdoor museum. Exhibits and programming changes with the seasons so check out their website to see what's going on during your stay. Open Wednesday-Monday 10am-5:30pm. Timed tickets are required, so plan ahead!

"An open air museum containing the what is perhaps the largest collection of contemporary sculpture in the United States." A half hour drive but well worth the trip! Make sure to get tickets ahead of time.
