The Hozugawakudari (保津川下り) course stretches 16 kilometers from Kameoka to Arashiyama through a river canyon surrounded by tall mountains, bringing breathtaking views and thrilling rapids. Visitors can board the boats at the dock located just a 10 minute walk from the north exit of JR Kameoka Station. Not only is it a mode of transportation, but it is also an exciting event. Gliding down the river makes you feel like you’re at a theme park. Add in the stunning natural scenery and it is a perfectly balanced attraction. The boats are manually rowed by experienced boatmen, who skillfully maneuver through rapids and around large rocks with oars and bamboo poles. This method of rowing boats has been passed from generation to generation for hundreds of years. Listen to them tell you about the local history as you travel downriver, seeing beautiful natural scenery and wildlife along the way.

ミシュランガイドにも乗っている超有名な川下り。美しくも迫力のある保津川の渓谷の風景と、船頭さんの操船テクニックのすごさが見所なのはももちろんですが、イケメンの船頭さんの絶妙トークが最高。民宿から歩いて行けます。
