Simos consists of two beaches, Megalos (Large) Simos and Mikros (Small) Simos. ... A narrow stretch of white sand divides these two magnificent beaches which are gifted with turquoise exotic waters. The area is made up of white sand dunes and crystal clear waters that offer a unique swimming experience.

The most amazing blue-green waters in Greece. Golden sand beach. Always attractive but very crowded in August. Be well prepared with sun block, hats, lots of water and umbrella if you dont want to stay in the organized part of the beach. Nice seafood restaurants in the main village.

Simos is the most famous beach of Elafonisos, and the largest, too. Its peculiar shape has turned out to be the symbol of the island and people come on Elafonisos mostly because they have seen photos of Simos. Simos actually consists of two beaches, Frango and Sarakiniko which merge together and form a small sandspit. The white sand looks endless. In the summer there are cantinas offering drinks, sunbeds and parasols, but in the rest of the year there are no working facilities. On this beach there are almost no buildings but there is a camping site in the west end.

Best known for Simos beach, with golden sand dunes, tamarisk trees and bountiful fish, Elafonisos was, until 2,000 years ago, a peninsula and home to a breed of small red deer (“elafi” in Greek). A mighty earthquake, however, broke it off from the Peloponnese and turned it into the region’s only inhabited island. Elafonisos is a place of outstanding natural beauty, protected under the Natura 2000 network, and a paradise for water-sports enthusiasts. Just off the coast lies the sunken city of Pavlopetri dating to the 3rd millennium BC, which some say inspired the Atlantis myth.
