Take a trip back to the days of the iron works, see machinery used and how people lived. Take a tram ride and go down the mine (pre-booking required for mine) See the first iron hulled vessel The Vulcan. Great play park. Gift shop. An interactive museum with lots to see both indoor and out and free - small charge applies to trams.

A great family day out. See how miners lived in actual cottages and see how they changed. You can go down a coal mine too!

This is a great place for a family visit or a historical look into how families and people lived in the mining times. There is a lovely tram ride and visitors centre. There are houses set up which shows you how people lived and worked in the mining times and a trip down into the mines. Guides available. Lovely cafe. There is a lovely swing park and nice walks.

Built on the site of an old ironworks, Summerlee tells the story of this part of Scotland when mining and ironworking were the dominant industries. Very informative (free entry) museum with things to do for the kids, as well as a wee tram ride, a reconstructed street "through the ages" and a visit "down the mine" (over 5s only). There's also a nice playpark and a coffee shop.
