The Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site is located on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. It features Canada’s first lock canal and the remains of a fort. With a history spanning 7,000 years, the site was a portage and encampment location used by Amerindians to avoid the rapids, a military fortification, and a canal that opened the way for commercial shipping

Beautiful historic park. Take a stroll through grounds dotted with archaeological remnants and imagine the lives of soldiers in the garrison at the beginning of the 19th century. Step into the blockhouse that served as the command post and watch the multimedia show and visit the exhibition. This replica of the 1814 building overlooks the headland. Then, admire the river while enjoying a picnic with the family.
