On top of the "Island" there is the castle from the period of Venetians. It was built in 1256 by Prince Gulielm Villeard. During the years of the Turkish the castle was used as a form of defence. In the 18th century the brothers Zafeiropouloi, wealthy merchants abroad, returned to their hometown to fight against the Turkish and built in the ground of the old castle three houses, with the main features of the local architecture. Today you can see the deserted houses. The Castle can be visited all year round and the view is stunning.

The Venetian castle on the top of the hill called "Island" by the locals. Go on foot to discover the beautiful traditional houses and narrow streets! From up there the views are unique to the village and port, the beach and the sea!
