Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area Palisades Unit, Cobb Pkwy Paces Mill Rd SE, Atlanta, GA 30339. This is one location along the Chattahoochee River that provides walking paths and biking trails that are absolutely gorgeous. There are some historical markers that list the area as being the beginning of the Trail of Tears. Parking is $5 for the day.

What beats a fall hike along the banks of the ’hooch? Not much. The Chattahoochee River, along the northern and western borders of the City of Atlanta, offers an array of options for whiling away an autumn day—even if it means skipping the getting wet part.
