Copperas Pond is a 1 mile (.5 up, .5 back) lightly trafficked trail between Wilmington and Lake Placid. There is a beautiful pond at the top that you can jump in to. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. You can put "Copperas Pond" in your GPS. It will take you to Route 86…

If the Mirror Lake beach is too crowded for you, take a short hike to Copperas Pond, a scenic swimming spot hidden in the mountains. The pond itself is only about a 20 minute hike in but the terrain is a bit rocky. Trails also extend higher into the mountains for a longer hike.

Swimmers: 1 mile hike to pristine mountain lake. Be sure to take right fork on trail (other 2 lakes up there are mucky). At Copperas go right to rocks or lean-to further on (first come, first serve).
