The local swimming pool. Within walking distance just over the hill by Hallgrímskirkja. We love to go there as often as possible. We have heated pools and hot tubs, saunas and steam baths. A bit pricey but worth it. If you're staying for a longer time or are planning to go a few times, I'd…

Indoor/outdoor geothermal public pool. The indoor pool was designed by state architect Guðjón Samúelsson (Hallgrímskirkja Church, University of Iceland, National Theater) and opened in 1937. The pool was recently expanded and now includes an outdoor pool as well.

Bar
“Kaffibarinn is one of the oldest bars in town. The tourist to local hipster ratio has understandably shifted in favour of the tourists in the last decade or so. But that does not seem to make Kaffibarinn any less hip. In fact it sort of adds a new level of coolness. Kaffibarinn at the weekends is an experience you will either love or hate. But if you don´t fancy the partying crowds at night, but you like the sound of Kaffibarinn´s warm, dingly charm, then check it out in the daytime for a cosy coffee or draught beers on offer.”

“Our neighbourhood swimmingpool. 10 minute walking distance. An outdoor swimming pool. With a slide, hot tubs and a 50 meter swimming pool. Icelanders are very fond of their swimming pools. It´s a wonderful way to spend time with the family and to renew in between trips. ”
