It's compact but packed with statues, monuments, fountains, and lots of trees. It features many different areas, nooks, and crannies. On any warm day the locals are all over with their dogs.

Opera House
“The oldest theater in Uruguay and the entire western hemisphere. Located in the old town of Montevideo, near the Independence Square. Built according to the design of the Italian architect Carlo Zucchi in the neoclassical style and officially opened on August 25, 1856. The side wings of the building were completed in 1874 under the direction of the French architect Victor Rabu. The theater is named after the Spanish discoverer Juan Diaz de Solis. This is the history of the country.”

Food Court
“Although very touristic its quite the experience if you are a meat lover! This market is located at the end of Ciudad Vieja and was built in an old train station. The theme of this market is Uruguayan Parilla (BBQ). Go here if you want an Anthony Bourdain (amazing food journalist) moment.”
