No trip to Winchester is complete without visiting the Cathedral. Do not miss the crypts with an Anthony Gormley installation and you can also do a rooftop walk. Jane Austen's grave is located here and it's free on a Sunday.
The Cathedral was built on the site of an early Christian Church and stands at the heart of historic Winchester, once the seat of Anglo Saxon and Norman royal power. Today's Cathedral has its roots in the seventh century when England's pagan monarchy first became Christians.
