Great little *free* museum with live animals, interactive displays and a big train set in the basement. Nice grounds with a picnic area outside.

Corona Heights is around the museum up the trail. You'll have almost as good a view of SF as from Twin Peaks and be there with a couple of dog walkers vs many tour bus loads of people on Twin Peaks. (Museum is currently being re-modelled and is not open)

Quirky children's nature and science museum. Climb the hill behind for one of the best views of the city.
