“The Pi d’en Xandri is a monumental pine (Pinus pinea) placed in Sant Cugat del Vallés in the traditional path to the hermitage of Sant Medir. The tree is 237 years old, with a heigh of 23 m. and a perimeter of 3,20 m. In February of 1997,the pine suffered a severe outrage with an attempt to cut it and to set fire to it. This act of vandalisme failed and thanks to big measures of maintenance and of support the pine recovered and nowadays is healthy again. To will see it with some props, which are necessary for at least 15 or 20 years more. In these last years, the pine of Xandri has become a symbol of identity of Sant Cugat and in particular of the civic efforts to protect the natural environment of the town.”
