Mt. Rose is Lake Tahoe’s closest skiing to Reno, located only 25 minutes away from Reno and 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe. The mountain has over 1200 acres of terrain and 60+ trails to suit any type of skier or snowboarder.

Good Ski Resort. Some of the best Snow in Tahoe especially when other resorts are lacking. The Chutes offer great expert terrain and vertical descent.
Mt. Rose has the unique distinction of having Tahoe's only above-tree-line skiing. Add the gnarly double black diamond "Chutes" and you have a lot of variety in a fairly small package. Unpretentious and with a high base elevation, Mt. Rose is worth a visit.
Our favorite for boarding/ skiing! 30 minutes up hwy 431. Go early (before 8:30) and enjoy one of Gus's famous breakfast burritos. Best value for ski lessons. Best childrens learn to ski program. Highest terrain (8260 elevation) so the driest snow in the basin. Nice combination of ability levels…
