Where black lava rocks meets water! Here you can see beautiful color contrast on a sunny day. Highly recommend it! Be sure to bring your snorkeling gear if you come in the morning, there is a spot along the Way!
Beautiful view of Haleakela's left over lava fields, leading into a great snorkel bay with potential for dolphin sightings (in morning hours). Easy trail hike for all ages; trail eventually turns into mobile lava rock - consider good walking shoes. Free parking, free entry.
This is part of the old King's trail and passes many historical and archaeological sites, as well as old lava flows and hidden beaches. Be sure to wear decent hiking shoes/boots.

Trail
“This is a great hike with amazing views of the Valley Isle if you get up there on a clear day. Go early to beat the heat and the crowds. Tip: Drive all the way up the road to the top parking lot. You don't want to park in the lower lot and take the long walk up!!”
