This intimate drinking den claim that the “creation and execution of exceptional drinks is our passion”, and who are we to argue? Pop a couple of Hell in the Pacific's down the hatch and it'll be hard to counter this claim, and they're pretty darn serious about the quality of their Dim Sum plates…

This basement bar looks like it was decorated by someone who went drunk shopping on the Hawaiian Décor website. That’s one reason we enjoy it so much. The other is the excellent rum-heavy drinks list. The snacks are good too, and essential if you’re staying for multiple drinks. Or even one Zombie…

“Portobello Star is a small, intimate cocktail bar that's perfect for after work drinks. Based right on Portobello Road in the heart of Notting Hill, it's also a great escape when the markets are getting a little too busy. Portobello Star is the sort of place where you will find simple sharing platters and Ginger Pig pies served alongside teas and coffees and of course gorgeous concoctions.”

“A great spot for a night of dancing! This intimate, underground club that opens to the early hours of the morning is no more than a 25 minute walk from the flat!”

“Our much loved local independent cinema built in 1907 and recently renovated. The auditorium is large with reclining super soft seats. Its ornate ceiling and plush curtains give a sense of the bygone days of cinema. From Notting Hill Gate Underground station (District Line) take exit 2 which is opposite and to the left of the ticket barriers. As you reach the top of the stairs The Gate can be seen ahead, less than a minute away.”

“Notting Hill feels like it should have a good old fashioned diner, and it does. The Electric isn’t cheap, but it’s a great shout no matter what time you’re in the area. There’s an all-day breakfast menu from 8am which is generally very satisfying, and a solid selection of uncomplicated but delicious food for a really hearty dinner. The flat iron chicken and a double cheese burger should at the very least be on your table, but the mac and cheese is the only side worth a fiver. Even if you aren’t making use of the cinema here, most of the food is worth making a journey for – especially without the 50% off if you’ve got a cinema ticket for next door. ”
