It’s very Barbary Coast, Gold Rush-era feeling. I’ve seen some really awesome people show up in jazz attire, full-on suits and fedoras. They have an upright piano set up, there’s a standup bass—it feels like there’s always something amazing about to happen. This is where they serve some of the best pisco punch in the city, which is a San Francisco thing. It’s just as much of a thing here as Irish coffee.

Great place to grab a drink. Great ambience, sometime they have a live jazz band on the weekends.

One of the oldest bars in San Francisco. Tell the bartender what kinds of flavors you like and they will make a special drink for you. They do NOT skimp on the alcohol here.

Live music on almost every evening. Nice whiskey/bourbon-based cocktails.

“A classic for brunch or dinner - and no need to wait! Park Tavern accepts reservations in advance and also does pretty well at accepting walk-ins as well. A little bit pricier, but worth it for the tasty food and lack of wait.”

Restaurant Dim Sum
“It's not really a bakery, but more of a to-go dim sum place. Gets busy around 11am, but the line moves fast. Be prepared to get yelled at by the women working behind the counter. Cash only. What I order there: Shrimp and pork shumai BBQ pork buns Pan-fried turnip cakes Chive & shrimp dumplings Shrimp dumplings Malaysian sponge cake.”

Dive Bar
“Spec's used to be a museum, and still is in a way. The walls are covered with San Francisco quirky history! The grumpy bartender will pour a fine ale, and if you ask for "cheese and crackers" he will cut you a nice wedge of Edam for your dining pleasure. Just don't play the piano without asking.”

Bar
“This feels like more of a neighborhood restaurant than a destination restaurant, and that's perhaps why we like it. They're known for their seafood but they have a Rib Eye that comes with more side dishes and accoutrements than you can shake a stick at, from different salts, to mustards, to sauces. The steak can easily feed two if not three people. ”
