Located east of downtown, it contains numerous cafés, restaurants, and shops housed within heritage buildings of the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery. The 13 acres (5.3 ha) district comprises more than forty heritage buildings and ten streets, and is the largest collection of Victorian-era industrial architecture in North America. The district was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988. It is a really cool area with small shops and restos. All pedestrian walk ways. Feels like the piazza of a small western european town when you walk around the area.

An enormous green space, full of trees, many squirrels , a big pond, a tiny zoo featuring beautiful llamas, lots of walking trails and fresh air. Go on a hike! Very safe during the day. (It's a bit too dark and isolated at night to explore. Don't do that.) There is a great cafe in the middle of the park with good food and coffee, open early. If you take the subway to High Park Stn and follow the signs from Bloor St, you will find the cafe. The zoo is near the cafe down Deer Pen Rd. Look for Grenadier Pond. It's splendid. It's true, beavers live in it!! See if you can find the trees with their teethmarks in them!! I was so surprised. Lol!

High Park

We lived on a street bordering this park for a few years and fell in love with the parks' vibrancy and multi-purposes. The area is pretty darn cool too! Start by walking around the park, kick a ball around or have a picnic on the green grass, watch people balance on slack lines, hit a ball in the tennis courts or take a skate in the winter on the ice rink. The Trinity Bellwoods Community Centre has an indoor swimming pool (and toddler pool), ping pong tables, indoor walking track, and a gym that has pickup sports and kids play at times. The outdoor play structures are fun, as is the wading pool (although not much shade at high noon). Nearby Lucky Penny is great for a meal/snack after.
