Fabulous round house on the west coast of Scotland

The DRUM at Dunmore is a stunning elliptical house with a sloping roof and high ceilings, clad in charred larch with orange window frames and painted wooden floors. Designed by architect Roderick James and built by a crack team of smashing local chaps, the Drum is a perfect bolt hole for two. It has a wood burning stove and a big squashy velvet sofa, floor to ceiling triple glazed windows and is nestled in woodland on a small estate (complete with castle) and just moments from the sea.

Ardlussa House on the Isle of Jura is a deer stalking lodge, uniquely positioned at the north of the island looking across the Sound of Jura to the mainland. It's home to the fifth generation of the Fletcher family who live in a self contained wing of the house and it sleeps 10 people in 3 double and 2 twin rooms.
