We had a wonderful few day's stay in John's beautiful cottage. John is very engaging and even phoned while we were on our way to Holy Island to make sure we had received the key code and to see if we had any questions. On arrival everything was in order and Johns instructions on how to find his cottage were perfect. The cottage is incredibly well situated in the village with stunning views of the castle from the kitchen, garden and both bedrooms. We could have just spent our whole time on Hoy Island sat on the patio in the sunshine taking in the incredible view! The cottage is very up to date and the kitchen is well-equipped if you are more inclined to self cater. Everything in the village is only a few minutes walk away. There is a pub virtually next door and another pub two minutes away, also several cafes. There is also a gin shop right next door! There is room to park one car right outside and an EV charging point if you need one. All in all this is a fantastic property.

We had a lovely stay in Tynemouth, right next to the beach, great space for the kids to play in the back garden. The house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Will stay again for sure.

Perfect cottage in a brilliant location. Liz kept contact throughout and sadly as we were out and about did not get to meet her in person - next time! The cottage was spot on and Liz provided a cot and high chair for our 1 year old. If you like peace and quiet and don’t mind driving to the shops I cannot recommend Miss Rankin’s Cottage highly enough. We wanted to meet up with friends on neighbouring farms and having such a lovely space to return to was perfect. Thank you Liz.

Words cannot describe how amazing Simone is and her gorgeous retreat. I took my Dad away for a little trip away as he is rather poorly and the original place I had booked was appalling! So bad I refused to stay. Thinking I'd have to take my Dad back home as finding somewhere suitable for his needs is slim picking, never mind on an August Friday night at 6pm, last weekend of the summer holidays. Nevertheless, after refusing to give up I found this gem, both in Simone and her retreat. Just what we needed . Simone went above and beyond from the second I placed the booking, she rang me straight away, said she would met us there, she had the retreat warming through for us, lights on and made us feel absolutely at home. So much so I had to give her a hug. The whole experience from start to finish was 10 star. The place is beautiful, the views are outstanding, area is perfect. My Dad is dying to go back already. And I can't wait to take him. See you soon x

This was a beautiful place to stay, very peaceful, clean and tidy. The view from the hot tub was lovely. We felt very lucky to find this place for a single night stay as it seems you usually have to book multiple nights. We often grab the chance at a night away whenever we can as parents of a young family so we will be keeping our eyes peeled to see if any further 1 night availability appears in future as we would definitely return. Beautiful seaside apartment. Great base to explore the area. Host was very communicative about check in. The welcome book on arrival was a great help for the local area. The apartment was spotless and had a great set up. Especially liked the small selection of games for entertainment. Will definitely stay here again if available when visiting the area.

Another letter cancelled our booking on the day of our stay which had been booked for over 2 months. Not ideal when you have 5 people travelling 240 miles that morning to spend long weekend in Newcastle to attend a gig. Colin was able to accommodate us at his property and the previous cancellation was a blessing in the end! Colin's communication when booking and throughout the stay was excellent, helpful and proactive. The property is in a lovely area and was much better than the original property we had booked. Nothing negative to say about Colin or the property.....highly recommended for anyone needing accomodation in the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we felt at home from the day we arrived. The cottage was perfect for our extended stay (a month) and we will fondly remember our time in the cottage, Frosterley and the Weardale and North Pennines area. Our hosts were very friendly, laid back and made us feel wonderfully relaxed during our stay. The cottage was warm, comfortable and well appointed and ideal for our needs. We would definitely recommend River View Cottage and the other accommodation in the courtyard to family and friends and we would definitely consider returning in the future for another break.
