This was such an awesome and one-of-a-kind experience! Way beyond a regular stay—you get so many cool and unexpected moments. Like arriving at the treehouse by boat, having dinner with headlamps on, sleeping right in the heart of nature, using a telescope to spot elephants and other animals, and even seeing wild peacocks for the first time. It just feels like you’re completely blending in with nature—so peaceful and magical. Channa was super helpful and worked really hard rowing the boat (the water seemed kinda tricky that day), which we really appreciated. Usha’s cooking was amazing—totally hit the spot! There was a lot of food, but we got to try so many different veggies and flavors that we left totally stuffed and happy. If we could, we’d definitely stay a few more nights here. If you’re into trying new and unique experiences, this spot is 100% for you!

We will forever remember our special stay at Maulie's place! We arrived late at night from our train ride from Colombo and Maulie picked us up from the train station and welcomed us with the most amazing dinner prepared under trees. We felt right at home! The food there is some of the best we had in Sri Lanka - especially the jack fruit curry! The birders cabin was the best as we felt like we were one with nature - the birds and insect sounds, the fire flies at night while you sleep under the mosquito nets. We also took the canoe onto the lake and it was the most magical serene experience! Maulie and her brother always made us feel so welcome and we would highly recommend this place for all nature lovers!

Our stay here was absolutely fantastic. Everything—from the warm welcome by the team, to the delicious food, to the stunning view over the lake—was just perfect. Kumar took excellent care of us, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Wir waren zwei Nächte in der Unterkunft und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Beide Schlafzimmer sind mit einer Klimaanlage ausgestattet und im Wohnzimmer gab es einen Ventilator. Restaurants waren nicht sonderlich viele in unmittelbarer Nähe, aber mit dem Tuktuk kommt man schnell und billig überall hin. Am zweiten Abend wurden wir mit einer kleinen Mahlzeit überrascht.

Samantha and Kauchi were the perfect hosts. On arrival were were given welcome drinks and Kauchi informed us of the local attractions, including the Hurulu eco park (where we visited and saw loads of wild elephants extremely close up and virtually deserted apart from 2 jeeps), Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and pidurangala. The room was lush, the pool cooling in the heat, and the bird life amazing! We ate traditional breakfast in the train hut whilst the train drop off people (it's a delight to watch). We also had some of the best home cooked food we tried in Sri Lanka, fresh as it can be. We felt so well looked after, cared for, and relaxed in this chilled out environment. It's virtually a deluxe homestay, but more! Their ethos of living of their land with minimal waste was inspirational. I will remember the great chats had with Kauchi who's English is excellent. Out of the 8 places we stayed in Sri Lanka over 18 days this place is equal first 🥇 place. Thank you so much everything team 🙏 x

This was a perfect lodge and base for our safari to Wilpattu National Park. Kamal and Thushara were excellent hosts and helped organize a private safari for me and my wife at a fair price. The driver was excellent and got us to all the best spots and we had incredible luck. We had close encounters with basically every species in the park including a big bull elephant, a leopard, and two separate sloth bears! The lodge itself was a very relaxing space with a nice soaking pool over looking rice fields which offered excellent bird watching. We even had a toucan on the balcony the last morning! Manju and the other staff were amazing as well and his wife’s food that she prepared for us was excellent. Some of the best Sri Lankan cuisine we had on the trip. If you are looking for privacy and comfort for your Sri Lankan safari Life of Leisure and Wilpattu National Park is a perfect choice.

Stayed between 15-18th of April 2025. This is the second time I visited this property. Absolutely a gem of place to relax and unwind. The location is full of nature only the sound of the birds can be heard. The views are stunning with a beautiful lake in front and a large paddy field. An unspoilt village to show children how the rural village life goes about. There are plenty of bicycle for the guests to use FoC and Can take a bicycle ride across the village and on the bundt of the lakes in and around and enjoy the picturesque views of the lakes and the Galkiriyagama rock that spans for 7kms. During the night only the sound of nature you can hear. In the evening a dip in the lake with the villages is not to be missed. The property is very clearly kept. The food is absolutely tasty and made in a kitchen cleanly kept. Ideal place to enjoy traditional Sri Lankan Rice and Curry and other Sri Lankan food. A place definitely you want to revisit over and over again. Great value for money.

Merci beaucoup pour ce séjour très agréable dans votre Tiny House. La vue et la localisation étaient super, en pleine nature, très calme et reposant. Merci de vous être occupés de nous pour nous emmener au temple de Dumballa, de nous avoir réservé les tuk tuk, mais également l’après-midi au parc de Minneriya pour voir les éléphants. Nous avons également pris les repas proposés, et nous avons vraiment très bien mangé. Très bonne communication avant notre arrivée, et pendant notre séjour. Nous avons passé un très agréable moment chez vous pour commencer nos vacances au Sri Lanka, merci encore pour votre accueil.

Es war wirklich schön bei Banda wohnen zu dürfen! Er ist ein toller Kerl mit dem Herz am rechten Fleck. Immer offen zu helfen, mit guten Ideen und Vorschlägen. Sehr zu empfehlen! Das Haus liegt wunderschön, ein Stück entfernt von der Hauptstraße. Das Bad ist wirklich sehr besonders und man sieht, wie viel Liebe in der Architektur steckt. Sehr gerne wieder! 😊
