My entire team is really happy to have stayed at this house. It’s very clean and cozy. Around the house, you’ll find everything you need. Lori is a great host—she helps with everything and is very helpful.

Was in town for work and this was the perfect spot To come back to and relax by the lake. Sit on the deck if im ever in the area ill definitely stay again

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Big Oak. Marnie and Brian were waiting for us in their Gator when we arrived and greeted us like old friends. As a mom of a leash reactive pittie mix, I reached out to Marnie and Brian before we booked to confirm that there would in fact be no other dogs around and if there was, they would be leashed. They were both very understanding, honest and responsive when I made these inquiries. The Cabin itself is so stocked its insane. Anything you think you might need, they provide it. Olive oil, salt, heater, dog towels, tampons, toaster oven, home made cookies, coffee. They just really want you to feel at home and you DO. They also have it stocked with chilling out activities... things like games, music, DVDs, a full bird-feeder to watch birds, a scavenger hunt. The land is really well taken care of and beautiful. We enjoyed hiking the trails and taking in the sights. Our dogs had the time of their lives. We cannot wait to go back.. We already booked!

Our time at Reindeer Retreat was so memorable. 3 generations with kids 12, 11, and 8! We all loved it. It was such a highlight to be able to tour the farm and get to meet all the Reindeer. It snowed the night we arrived which made it even more special. We wanted to build a fire and after just a mention, firewood was on the back porch. We had another need, and before we knew it, it was delivered with smiles! We can only think of great things to say and I could write a book. Instead of reading this review, book your stay before you miss out!!!

Great location ! Located between Chicago and St. Louis so about a 3 hour drive to get peace and quiet. Cabin appears to be newly built and the place is SPOTLESS !! 10 minute drive to Walmart or Kroger or if you prefer get some local good eats !! Also plenty of Firewood for us city slickers :)... Has a smoker and a Blackstone griddle that are really good. Only thing if one prefers , bring a charcoal grill if allowed ..?? Place was awesome !! Thank you Jennifer and siblings. 5 STARS !! We'll be going back !!

Kathryn and her crew of animals were all very welcoming! Holly and the chickens were my dog’s favorites! We loved how secluded this place was, very nice to get away from the world for a couple of days. Yet, too not far from restaurants and things to do or see. Thank you for the fresh eggs and a great weekend Kathryn!

We really enjoyed our stay at Bethany’s spacious, historic farmhouse (with lots of modern touches), and communication was fabulous! There were plenty of plates and pots and pans for meals, salt and pepper, and a little coffee to get us started in the kitchen. And it’s such a peaceful country setting…would be a beautiful place to visit in warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor space and country views! We did find the stairs to upstairs bedrooms to be pretty steep, and my mom (who’s in her 80’s) was uneasy trying to use them. While there’s no bedroom on the main level, we were grateful there was a daybed with plenty of extra linens (no privacy though).

This place was perfect for what we needed! The loft was very pretty! The pics don’t do it justice! You must see for yourself!! Will definitely be back for future visits.
