Unforgettable We had an amazing time on safari in the Ikoma area and stayed at Daniel’s place for two nights. The location is quite remote, so we recommend confirming the exact directions with Daniel in advance—he is always happy to help. Besides that, he is a great conversationalist and incredibly knowledgeable about wildlife. The evenings by the fire with Daniel, listening to his fascinating stories about animals and their behavior, were truly unforgettable. We were pleasantly surprised by everything—Daniel and his team made us feel like family. Of course, this is not a five-star luxury stay, but everything is simple, well-maintained, and filled with care for guests. The rooms have all the essentials, and the staff is attentive and welcoming. The food was another highlight—homemade and delicious. At night, there is security, as the savanna is nearby, and you can hear the sounds of wildlife, waking up to birdsong in the morning. A great price-to-quality ratio. Highly recommended!

The Airbnb was conveniently located—close enough to Kakamega town for supplies but still peaceful and surrounded by nature. Easy access to Kakamega Forest (15-min drive) and the Crying Stone (20 mins away). Space & Cleanliness: Spacious rooms with comfortable beds (great for our group of 4). Clean, well-maintained—no issues with bugs or dust. Reliable hot water and good water pressure (a rarity in some rural stays!). Amenities: Full kitchen (we cooked breakfast easily). Secure parking (gated compound, fit our Land Cruiser safely). Host: Responsive and helpful—gave us tips on hidden gems like Rondo Retreat and local eateries. Flexible with check-in/out since we arrived late on Friday. Final Verdict: Great value for money! We’d definitely book again for a Kakamega trip. Ideal for road trip.

A beautiful, peaceful getaway in the heart of Kenya. The perfect place to retreat and be refreshed! The whole team at Tribe takes care of your every need and works to make sure you get the best experience possible. Such amazing meals and atmosphere. It’s a one of a kind experience. Will definitely book again the next time we need a getaway.

This has become my Go-to place whenever I am in Kampala. You cannot beat this location as it is close to pretty much anything you may want including a mall, lots of restaurants, gyms, market, shops, night life, clinics etc. The house is quite clean, the neighborhood is safe, the caretakers are friendly, the WIFI is fast and reliable and most of all, the host is amazing: friendly, flexible, available and just a really sweet person. I cannot recommend this place enough. 10/10 anyday!

The Papaya Home is lovely! The grounds are beautiful, staff is warm, hospitable, and super friendly. Florence and Jennifer are wonderful cooks! Our best meals in Kampala were at the Papaya Home. We would definitely stay here again.
