Stables Cottage, Eskdalemuir - a peaceful place

Stables Cottage is a comfortable dog and child friendly home for up to 6 people, with two double bedrooms and a sofa-bed. The well-appointed kitchen can seat six, while the living room has two sofas in front of the multi-fuel stove. There is an enclosed private garden behind the cottage, with swings and a burn that runs through the woods across the courtyard. Deer, red squirrels, owls, badgers and hares live nearby, while the surrounding countryside is spectacular for walks and cycling.

Windy Hall is somewhere very special. High in the Pennines it offers one of the most magnificent views in England. You may want to stay and enjoy the peace & quiet, but we are ideally placed for trips west to the Lake District, east to the magnificent cathedral city of Durham, and north to Hadrian's Wall. It's unusual in that you have to walk the last 240 metres to the house, though we will bring up your luggage in our 4WD. But don't let this put you off; please just read our reviews!

We are surrounded by organic farmland, have a small woodland and access to Forestry Commission pine forest with at least 7 kilometres of walking or cycling paths. The property uses clean energy from our small turbine making it a zero-carbon heated accommodation. We have a electric car charging point for EV owners. We are near the Debatable Lands, Hadrian's Wall, Gretna, Kielder Forest and Carlisle.

Foulbog is a charming traditional shepherds cottage set on a working hill farm in rural Dumfriesshire. In a very remote location surrounded by rolling hills, with spectacular views down the valley. Wetheral Railway Station is a short walk from the cottage with regular trains to Carlisle and Newcastle. Easy access to Gretna Green, the Lake District, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
