We enjoyed four nights and five days in this rustic family cabin on a beautiful spot on the Maine coast. The scenery can't be beat - highly recommend the location. The house is so close to the water, the area was calm and quiet, and there is so much to do within a short drive. We loved just relaxing in the hammock on the lawn, or in chairs on the rocky beach. Our 2 year-old loved throwing rocks into the water and scooping the (rocky) sand. It is definitely a rustic place, which wasn't the easiest with a toddler, but we signed up for it and are glad we had the experience. Kitchen is simple (no microwave, no dishwasher), and the whole place feels like you have just walked into a relative's house with little forewarning (well-used kitchen sponges and toothbrushes are not hidden away), but this was part of the charm in a way. It was chilly in the mornings (last days of August) and we were glad we brought layers to wear in the chilly cabin during breakfast, but we slept very well in the cozy, clean bed linens provided. All in all - this is a gorgeous spot and great set-up if you want that real, rustic family cabin experience. Host was fantastic and welcoming - no complaints.

Beautiful and quiet. The light and outdoors are ideal -- your plans to tour the coast will melt away when you sit outside and watch the bay while enjoying an adult beverage. The house is admittedly rustic, but it matches the description perfectly.

This is a real Maine camp right on the water in a stunningly beautiful and quiet location. It is fully equipped with everything you might need for a beach vacation in Maine. I would rent Sean's house again.

If you're looking for a hotel like atmosphere, look somewhere else, this house is the quintessential family Maine camp! You're definitely in a lived-in cottage and it looks like relatives were just there. The house is overall very pleasant, the floorplan is great, the furniture is rustic yet super comfortable. The pictures are really true to reality yet the rooms are bigger and brighter. We unfortunately had quite bad and cold weather during our stay—to be sometimes expected in Maine—but the fireplace and the electric heathers did a great job at keeping us warm. Sean was a fantastic and host, he answered all my questions very quickly prior to our stay, provided very detailed instructions and things to do around and even had a lovely note paired with some wine and cheese to welcome us. We'll definitely come back!

This is my 2nd stay at the house, with a group of seven friends. It s a 'charming , comfortable and beautiful summer home with an amazing view, right on the water. We love the living room with plenty of seating so we can all gather, and the front yard waterfront.

We feel so lucky to have found Sean’s Searsport Cottage on AirBnB. It met and surpassed all of our hopes and expectations. The so very charming 4-bedroom cottage was exactly as described on the site. It’s very rustic and authentic to the area, but in the most comfortable, relaxing and beautiful way. Everyone gasped, oohed and awed when they toured the house and saw the gorgeous beach which is literally steps from the grass lawn. It’s a 10 minute walk to the small town and grocery store, with lovely neighboring houses along the way, but very privately situated. We sat in Adirondack chairs with coffee or cocktails and used the 2 Webers to BBQs burgers and steam lobster, which we enjoyed at the sturdy picnic table. A bonus is that you get the morning sun, but not the afternoon heat on the front lawn, so you can enjoy it comfortably all day long. The view is breathtaking with picturesque sailboats moored in the bay, and you may get to watch a few cargo ships come and go from the small port across the harbor. The fridge and cupboards were stocked with perishables, spices, cookware, and all the things one needs to cook full meals but never has in a hotel kitchenette. There was a coffee pot (a must for me), filters and even coffee to brew the first morning. We used one of the kayaks, and the instructions left for the house were complete and very useful. Anytime I emailed Sean with a question he answered very promptly. The shower is in an old-style bathtub so a little cumbersome to get in and out of. We had an elderly relative visit who was able to get up the 5 steps to the front porch with assistance, and was then able to use the main floor bathroom but not the shower. There is one step down into the kitchen, and the main floor double bed is a tall one, so the house is somewhat, but not completely, accessible. Overall we absolutely loved our stay. We felt like we really were borrowing a friend’s home, and were able to experience the true beauty of the Northeast. So much nicer than a sterile hotel.
