The room is in the upper level of a guest tower across the deck from the main house. The room has a stunning water view and a tree house like feel with a queen size bed. The bed is on a platform that is a little higher up than most beds so that you can see the view from it.
It is very private. At the top of the tower there is a hammock We live across the deck in the main house with our 10 year old son and in the summer we are all working like crazy so are not home that much but you may hear the pitter patter of our son's feet on the deck in the morning.
Aquinnah is a rural part of Martha's Vineyard. 35 minutes from the ferry in Vineyard Haven and the airport in Edgartown. It is home to the Wampanoag tribe and known for its beautiful clay cliffs and beaches. There is public transportation by bus once an hour and great biking and trails but a car is best in this area. It's hilly and remote.
There is a market 10 minutes away (Memorial Day-Columbus Day) and a grocery store 30 minutes away. The only liquor stores are in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. The closest one is MV Wine and Spirits near the airport. Good restaurants in the area, kayak/canoe rentals available and paddle boarding, surfing, sailing etc.

I try to be here to greet each guest but sometimes with our busy schedules that is not possible. I will always contact the guest the day before arrival to find out ETA and if they have questions. We are frequently out at night in the summer. We are usually around in the morning to answer any questions guests might have. I've had guests join us for breakfast and play with our son and I've had guests who I've hardly interacted with at all. I go by what the guest wants. Most guests choose this spot because of the beauty and solitude and I do my best to respect their privacy.
I mentioned this above in the space description but want to be clear the only shower available in the summer months is the outdoor shower. It is designed so that you can see the ocean, so on one side there is no partition it is completely open. You will be afforded privacy simply by letting us know when you would like to shower. The bathroom is a half bath and small.
You are welcome to use the table and chairs on the deck and the hammock at the top of the tower.
NO smoking, no pets. Please rinse off in the outdoor shower when returning from the beach so as not to get sand in the room. The weather changes quickly here so all doors and windows MUST be closed when you leave. This is the number one rule of the house.
Please do not hang items on the deck railings. You are welcome to hang wet items on the deck chairs to dry.
You are welcome to use the kitchen and the grill. We ask that you co-ordinate timing with us and be out of the kitchen by 8pm. Be warned that we are very tidy and expect others to be as well. Please wash pots and pans and put them away all other dishes can go in the dish washer. We are also gluten free, we do not expect you to be.
You are welcome to use the hammock and the deck furniture.

I love meeting new people and hearing about where they are from and what they do and I love telling them about our beautiful island and making sure they find what they are looking for on Martha's Vineyard.
