For bird lovers there is the famous Swell Wood Heronry at the top of the drive and the nature reserve is home to the Great Crane, a wetland icon. The Swallow's Nest is one of the few places in the UK where you can not only hear these incredibly rare birds trumpeting as they soar high in the sky but you can see them foraging for food on the Moor and during the year you will see snipe, red shanks, Cettis warblers, lapwings, yellow wagtails, skykarks, golden plover, widgeon, marsh harriers, hobbies, buzzards, kestrels, barn owls, stonechat and kingfisher and famously the starling murmurations.
The Swallows Nest is part of our home and we hope that all guests the appropriate respect for our belongs. Please always ask if there is anything that you need or would like help with. Please watch your speed as your arrive, drive slowly and carefully down the farm track to our house, as there are various ducks, hens, guinea fowl, dogs and cats around and about that live at the neighbouring farm.
