Cesar's home is truly incredible! I'm not sure I've ever stayed at an Airbnb with more character or better views. Hands down, the highlight of the home is the outdoor living room, which includes a bar area, couches, grill, dining table, hammock, pool and hot tub. We spent 90% of our time there given that the weather was perfect for our whole trip. Really cannot overstate how incredible the views were, especially at sunset. The kitchen (which is inside) was very well appointed with everything we could have wanted. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner with no problems. (Just make sure to lock up night to keep raccoons out). The house is also a short walk up a hill from what I believe is the nicest beach in Costa Rica. It is a public beach but was never too busy even on weekends. The water was super warm, clear and perfect for body surfing. Cesar himself was incredibly responsive and helpful both before and during our trip. He gave us suggestions and tips for what to do while were there, and even left us a whole bunch of Costa Rican snacks at the beginning of our trip. Two notes that might be helpful to future guests: First, the house and surrounding area are home to lots of local critters, and given the outdoor nature of the house you will be living in close proximity to them. I personally LOVED this element of our vacation and would not have changed a thing. Very cool to see a group of loud Macaws land in the tree right next to you, or a group of raccoons chasing an iguana across the pool area. Just keep in mind that you will need to be vigilant in protecting your food and may come across a few crabs in the shower, etc. Possibly not ideal for the super squeamish (but then again, why would they be visiting Costa Rica in the first place?). Second, the location, while gorgeous, is just a little bit farther away from everything than we had anticipated, in part due to the fact that it takes 10 minutes each way just to drive out of the huge Punta Leona complex. For reference, it is about 25 minutes each way to the nearest grocery store in Herradura, 1.5 hours to Manuel Antonio and over 3 hours to Monteverde. Keep that in mind when planning activities. It is also not super close to many eating establishments. There is one restaurant by the beach next door, but is only open to 5pm. There is apparently another restaurant on the property, but we never saw it. My family loves to cook, so this was not a problem for us as we just stopped at the grocery store and cooked meals for ourselves and ate them in the incredible outdoor dining area, but this may be less ideal if you don't want to do that. Overall I loved this property and would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

Wow. Where do I begin. Our stay here began with being welcomed upon arrival by our friendly host Cesar. The photos he's taken for his Air BnB profile only begin to scratch the surface of the truly breathtaking views. And yes, he's a magnificent photographer! Take a moment to admire his art work that can be found around the place. The location of this beautiful estate overlooks the bay, which is also peppered with a colorful canopy of tropical flora. You feel intimately close to the beach without sacrificing your privacy. The best part is that you get all of this in addition to a home that is well-kept, clean, open, and truly comfortable. The beds are honestly as comfortable as any hotel bed we stayed in. It's also only a 15 minute drive to the hustle and bustle of Jaco beach. Cesar proved to be better than the average host when he went above and way beyond when the neighborhood's water system went out. This is not a common problem - not to worry. Cesar took it upon himself to make sure that we had plenty of water bottles until we got it back. He had an open line of communication with us during this entire time. If we didn't respond to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), he sent us an email. He made it his priority to make sure we were well informed of the situation. Had this not happened, he still would have been a stellar host. He gave us recommendations of anything and everything we should do or eat while we were in the area. This spot is not to be missed! I cannot recommend it enough. It's a must stay if you're in the area!

There is so much to say about my trip to Costa Rica, it's hard to decide where to begin! Visiting Villa Marino is truly a unique experience, and a vacation that I will remember fondly. The Hosts - Cesar knocks it out of the park on communication, friendliness and attention to detail. He went above and beyond to ensure my friends and I had a great vacation. We were a group of 8, and had requested hiring a cook to prepare several meals during our stay. Cesar's own mother, Maritza, volunteered to cook for us and she really made our vacation special. She was kind, cheerful, and did an amazing job with all the meals. Throughout our trip, she left little surprises for us like homemade passion fruit juice, an thoughtful afternoon snack, and even went into town to buy us fresh fish from the market. She gave us plenty of privacy and was so sweet anytime we got a chance to visit with her. Having her hosting us really brought the trip to the next level! The Home - Wow! The view, the history, the architecture, the smells and the sounds really make this house a unique experience. Cesar's family was actually responsible for developing Punta Leona, and they definitely chose the best spot in the entire neighborhood. The house is a series of separate rooms connected by an outdoor living area. The main structure is the entrance, kitchen, and dining area. The outdoor hallway has large open windows where you can hear the waves crashing on the beach below while the smells of saltwater and flowers waft in the breeze. Below the living quarters is an amazing outdoor space with a living room, kitchen and pool. The pool overlooks Playa Blanca, and in the evenings the ylang ylang tree releases the most pleasant aroma. We were visited by several scarlet macaws while enjoying the sunset on our first evening! The Location - The home is located in Punta Leona, and sits on the cliff overlooking Playa Blanca. As far as I could tell, Villa Marino is the closest to the beach as it gets! Playa Blanca is the only white sand beach in Costa Rica, however we never felt it was crowded. Since Punta Leona is largely residential, it is not easy to get into without authorized credentials (Cesar took care of all of this, it was no sweat at all). Punta Leona is only about an hour from San Jose, so accessing the neighborhood is quick and easy. The Activities - As previously mentioned, Villa Marino is directly above Playa Blanca. In addition to catching rays and waves, Carara National Park is about 15 minutes from Punta Leona. We paid a guide to spot wildlife along our hike and saw a sloth, a huge crew of whiteface monkeys, scarlet macaws and so much more. If you leave the park and go about 5 more minutes down the road you will hit the famous crocodile bridge. In addition,...

One word to describe this property and Cesar--AMAZING. We were traveling with two families on our first trip to Costa Rica so we were a little nervous. To make things even more of a challenge the airline misplaced one of our bags so that delayed our departure. When we arrived three hours late Cesar was still waiting for us and greeted us like we were family and showed us the entire property and what to expect. He gave us great advice about the local community and restaurants to chose from and the property was exactly as pictured. Each room as well as the kitchen is well decorated and stocked with whatever you could possibly need so we needed for nothing. The pool area is really understated in the property description as it has close to a full kitchen and cooking facilities which was great as we spent most of our time out there anyway. Home and property were spotless and Cesar even arranged for the home to be cleaned while we were staying there which was a nice touch. Wifi/internet was very good and also had excellent cell phone reception so you never felt out of touch with home base. The beach is a short walk (five minutes or less) from the house. The beach area is really awesome and being from Florida I am comfortable saying it rivals (likely beats) our best beaches. Great sand, clean waters, and good waves for boogie boarding and swimming and they even had lifeguards on duty. Lining the beach were shaded picnic tables and benches so you had a safe place to store your gear out of the sun. The property does have open walkways so you are outside moving within the home so being in a tropical environment insects and the occasional visiting crab passing through were not unexpected. The best part without a doubt really was Cesar. Our lost luggage was eventually found (someone grabbed the wrong bag) and the airline put them in touch with Cesar who took care of all of the logistics in making sure our bag got from the airport to our front door. Cesar even went so far and offered to meet the lady who had our bag and return it personally (1.5 hour drive one way). Really when does that happen? Great property that surely will not disappoint.
