Le logement
Tucked into a bend of the River Windrush, The Poplar Patch exclusively your own for your stay. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a family adventure (or both!) or just somewhere to unwind, you can enjoy countryside and the authenticity of living off-grid, with the comforts of a real bed and hot shower!

Pitched under a canopy of Poplar trees, our 5 metre bell tent provides plenty of space for up to 4. We have a cosy double bed, and if friends/the kids you'll just need to bring bedding and we'll lend you some airbeds/campbeds.

To help you know what to pack here is what we'll provide for your stay:
- Bed linen* and extra blankets (+ hot water bottles) for the double bed
- Towels for 2 guests*
- 2 (Optional) single airbeds/campbeds
- Lighting and bedside lanterns
- Small mirror
- Charging power bank
- Outdoor cooking tripod & grill
- Gas stove
- Pots, pans and cooking utensils
- Plates, bowls, beakers, cutlery and that all important bottle opener
- Eco washing up liquid
- Tea towels
- Kilner jar of drinking water
- A free box of firewood (you can refill your box for a £5 honesty fee)

Our top 4 recommendations you pack are:
- Towels for any extra guests
- Coolbox (you can chill bottles in the river)
- Picnic blanket
- Cards/boardgames (we have temporarily removed these until further notice)
- Download the free AllTrails App for great maps and suggested routes.

*We welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs at no extra cost. However, we do ask that you bring your own bed linen and towels and carefully pick up after your dog on the site. There are often sheep in the neighboring field so please be confident that your dog will be safe around them as there are the normal strict rules on the farm for dogs chasing livestock.

Accès des voyageurs
Please drive carefully, we are tucked away at the bottom of a field accessible from a small country lane which is popular with walkers and cyclists.

The gate from the lane into the field is padlocked and you must keep this shut and locked as you come and go.

Driving along the mown path through the field will lead through another gate and onto the site. It's a good idea to keep this gate closed too as sheep will often be in or moved in the the main field during your stay - best to keep them the right side of the fence!

The whole site is yours alone to enjoy. You are welcome to swim in the river, but please do not cross to the other side as this belongs to another farm.

Autres remarques
More than 2 guests?
Any additional guests are only £10 each per TRIP. The booking system here charges this per night, but we will correct the price once the booking has come through.

Extreme Weather
In the extreme floods of July 2007, had the site been set up then, it would have been under water. It is for this reason we have to caution that, in the very rare instance that this should this happen again, we would have to cancel your stay. We would of course office a full refund, but are not liable for any other travel costs or replacement stays.

Should we experience a very hot summer like 2018, we also ask that guest are very careful with the fire-pit as the ground became very dry and vulnerable. For your safety, and to protect the site, we reserve the right to place a fire ban on the area.

Gloucestershire, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

The Poplar Patch is surrounded by beautiful Cotswold towns and villages. There are ample activities and day trips around, and also wonderful (and long) cycling routes we can recommend so you can really explore the countryside.

Please see individual websites for activities/restaurant/pubs in the area to check opening arrangements at the time of your stay.

Take a quick trip down stream to the market town of Burford; a town full of history and also home to a famous garden centre and exotic wildlife park.

Keep going downstream a little further to explore the villages of Swinbrook; where you can enjoy a drink on the river bank, or a tasty meal at The Swan Inn, and Asthall; where you can wonder further along the river Windrush.

Heading upstream, try the long 10 mile circular walk to Great Rissington, with lunch at The Lamb Inn, before heading back for a well-earned rest. Venture a little further to reach the bustling Bourton-on-the-Water with its Model Village, railway museum and Birdland all asking for a visit. If you want to avoid the crowds, a small trip further will take you to Lower Slaughter, where you can pick up a homemade ice cream in the old Mill to accompany you through the peaceful village.

Switch rivers to the Coln and head to Bibury. Visit the trout farm and take a stroll up Arlington Row and around the near fields, before enjoying some afternoon tea at The Swan Hotel, or a pimms at the Catherine Wheel.

Traveling a little further this way will take you to Cirencester, fondly the capital of the Cotswolds. Visit on Monday or Friday to search through the markets, explore the expansive grounds of Cirecenster Park or discover its Roman history at the Corinium Museum. And if you like Romans, you should definitely make the trip to Chedworth Roman Villa too.

For a more activity packed day take on the climbing wall at Far Peak, or try some water sports at the Lechlade or South Cerney lakes. Or even just bring your bikes and explore the local routes around the site.

Food & Drink
Upton Smokery, Upton
Take your pick at the buffet of a delicious selection of food cooked on a huge open fire. Visit their farm shop next door to buy your favourite bits! A welcome visit for all of the family.

The Angel, Burford
Our favourite place to eat in Burford. This 16th century inn produces fantastic food serves all day in a beautiful setting.

The Swan Inn, Swinbrook
Charming Cotswold Inn, full of history and delicious food. Take a walk around the village before enjoying a drink alongside the river, or a meal inside or through into the garden.

The Lamb Inn, Great Rissington
Welcoming country inn with spectacular food. The perfect stop off if you take on the 10 mile walking loop.

The Fox Inn, Little Barrington
The village pub, great for a drink in the sun on the river bank.

Having grown up in the countryside and been lucky enough to enjoy the space privately with my family, I wanted to create something so that others can enjoy this experience with theirs. The Poplar Patch is my interpretation of balancing the comforts of Glamping with the authenticity of being off-grid in the Cotswolds. Over the next few years I have a few other ideas I would love to set up around the farm, each in their own private spot.
