Description

A beautifully renovated 100-year-old stone cottage with terrace and garden; just a 2 minute walk from the crystal clear waters of Kneze bay. Ideally located in coastal village 10 kilometers from Korčula old town. Price depends on high/low season.

The 70-square-meter cottage has two double bedrooms and a single bedroom, open loft space and two bathrooms. The front terrace opens out to a quiet private road, and the back terrace onto a secluded garden growing lavender, rosemary, sage and oranges – with all the scents of the Mediterranean.

You enter the house into an open plan kitchen and living room. To the sides are two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a loft space above. On the side of the house, there is a third double bedroom with a separate entrance and small ensuite bathroom. The house has traditional wide-planked wood floors and exposed stone walls, and is furnished in a mixture of Croatian rustic and modern Nordic design. The house is rented in its entirety so no one else will be there during your stay.

Korčula has become one of the most popular travel destinations in Croatia, rich in culture and history as well as natural beauty, with its unspoiled beaches and bays, vineyards and olive groves. The village of Kneze is a favorite among those in the know and an ideal base for exploring the island.

Arriving in Korčula:

By air:
Fly to either Dubrovnik or Split. Dubrovnik is closer but has fewer ferry connections.

By car:
It is handy to have a car on Korčula to explore the island. Kneze is on the coast, with a bus connection to Korčula old town, but many of the island’s best restaurants and swimming places are only accessible by car. Cars can be rented in Dubrovnik, Split and Korčula. If you are arriving by air, the most convenient way to get to Korčula will be to rent a car at Dubrovnik airport or Split airport.

Driving from Dubrovnik:
You can drive along the coast and directly up the Peljesac Peninsula to the car ferry in Orebic. The drive from Dubrovnik airport should take a little over two hours. The frequent car ferries from Orebic will get you across to Korčula town’s main ferry port in 15 minutes.

Driving from Split:
There are car ferries to Vela Luka at the west of Korčula island, about 45 minutes from the house. Other options include car ferries from Drvenik, south of Split, to the main Korčula ferry port (two and a half hours by boat), or from Ploce further down the Croatian coast to Trpanj on the Peljesac peninsula (one hour by boat) and then a drive across the peninsula to catch the car ferry from Orebic to Korčula (a 15 minute ride). Arriving from Split, there are car ferries that travel from Split harbor to the port of Vela Luka on Korčula island multiple times a day, as well as a once-daily catamaran to Korčula old town.

By boat:
Jadrolinija ferries travel up and down the Croatian coast, leaving Rijeka and Dubrovnik several times a week, with stops in Zadar, Split, Hvar, and Korčula. In July and August there is a fast boat from Dubrovnik to Korčula as well.

By bus:
During the summer, there is a daily bus from Dubrovnik to Korčula old town. To get to Kneze from from Korčula old town, there are five buses daily.

I look forward to welcoming you to my home in Korcula! I have recently returned to Europe from two years of living in an ashram in India. You may notice that previous reviews of the property mention Tyler as the host. He is my brother-in-law and has been doing a wonderful job responding to guests in my absence.
