Welcome to a home full of happy memories! A great place for a retreat away from the hustle and bustles of life or for an adventure packed time with friends and family.

Le logement
Morven is a spacious family house with a majestic view across the River Spey, past the historic Insh Kirk and Glenfeshie (where Landseer painted) up to the High Cairngorms, with the often snow-capped Braeriach, the third highest peak in Britain, dominating the landscape.

With five bedrooms (sleeping 8 people), the tv room can also sleep one adult or two children as a pull out sofa bed, two bathrooms and two shower rooms with loos. There are four reception rooms, the house is ideal for large families or groups of friends who like the outdoor life, or simply a quiet place to reflect and relax, whatever the season. The house overlooks a large lawn ideal for games of football, croquet, boules, etc., and sunbathing and there’s space beyond for BBQ’s

ACCOMMODATION
Morven House sleeps 8 people in 5 bedrooms.

There are three twin-bedded rooms (one en suite) and two single rooms, plus two  bathrooms and a two shower rooms.

For informal, social meals, there's a large well-equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher), a conservatory dining area, along with a separate dining room  to seat 14, which would perhaps suit more formal occasions. Meanwhile, patio furniture on the terrace makes for easy  summertime alfresco dining.

For relaxing, choose either of two sitting rooms, one of which has a piano,a roaring fire and there's a variety of board games for those wet days, or long winter evenings.  For quiet times, there's a separate television-cum reading room.

Laundry needs are taken care of with a washing machine, tumble dryer and both indoor and outdoor clothes hanging space.

Outdoor clothing and footwear can be kept in the boot room.

Surrounding the house is a large garden with a lawn perfect for ball games, and guests are welcome to use the boules set.

Wi-fi is also available.

Accès des voyageurs
Treat the house as your home!

Autres remarques
The prices are not set in stone and for less popular months and weeks we may be able to come to an alternative agreement.

For the winter months we are able to offer long term accommodation at a lower rate but we would ask people to pay for the oil for the heating.

TESTIMONIALS

"After the first of my several visits as house-guest to Morven over the past 20 years, these hospitable words from the song came to mind: “Will ye no’ come back again...” – I couldn’t resist the annual invitations to return.
This is a place where families and friends can foregather in spacious rooms to enjoy each others’ company without the feeling of being cramped or crowded.
The kitchen is fitted with the latest equipment and utensils for feeding at least a dozen guests at a single sitting. I have even attended a wedding reception at the house for three times that number. It was a memorable ceilidh!
There’s plenty to do at Morven. For those not wishing to brave the unpredictable Highlands weather, there is room to relax at the house, or you could go by car into nearby Kingussie or Aviemore; or even further to Inverness. But outside there is an almost endless choice of walks, hikes and rambles.
For me, Morven is the place which rejuvenates my soul; where I am seldom tempted to check e-mails. A few days at Morven will endow you with a new perspective on life; where friendships are made and begin to flourish." MICHAEL

"I have spent many happy holidays at Morven, with its magical setting and
views of the local mountains. The walks in the Caingorms are legendary and I
have enjoyed many pleasurable hours boating and fishing in the nearby Loch
Insh. The swifts, calling as they weave through the sky, add to the
summertime memories."
CHRIS

“Morven House is the most serene Highland base for any spring, summer or back-end fishing on the rivers hereabouts: the Spey and its tributaries and the Findhorn are the main ones.
There’s nothing heavenlier than a family supper around the dining table bedecked with the week’s catch.
The Spey and Loch Insh are a few hundred yards away, with all sorts of pike, trout and Spey running salmon, which lie on the north west shore, on their way up the river and just a few feet in from the bank, though I haven’t caught one yet.
Definitely worth trying out nearby are the Inschriach and Abernethy beats (Upper Spey) or go for a trout out on the Feshie. Feshiebridge must be the fishiest spot in the world.
In June, there are sea trout too.
You can even take the offspring to Rothiemurcus, where they can catch a stocked trout. There’s a fishing shop in Kingussie and the Suie at the top of the road where you can happily bore the locals and other fishers over a dram or two. Great!”

Kincraig is an ideal location for a family/group holiday in the Cairngorm National Park. Set in the landscape that starred in the BBC’s “Monarch Of The Glen” series, the village itself boasts a charming gallery cafe, a hotel and a pub. Within walking distance there is the Award-winning Loch Insh Watersports Centre and the well-known Highland Wildlife Park (including tigers, wildcats, wolves, polar bears and much else) run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. There is also a wide array of other wildlife, including gold eagles, red squirrells, crested tits and otters, so there's no shortage of interest for nature lovers.

Within easy reach there is a plethora of outdoor activities, ranging from peaceful walks to adrenalin-fuelled adventure sports: birdwatching at Loch Garten or on the Insh Marshes RSPB Reserve, fishing on the Spey or hill lochs, golf at half a dozen local golf courses, mountain-biking at Wolftrax, skiing or snowboarding up Cairngorm, the unique (free) Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore, the adventure park at Landmark.

Hi there, What an excellent idea this is! I love travelling, meeting new people and really getting to know the area I go to rather than just doing the typical tourist routes. Staying in the homes of the locals is therefore the perfect solution. The flexibility of both letting people stay at your home and the choice of so many places to go to is my cup of tea. I will carry on searching high and low for my next adventure. Happy Times! Lucy. :-)
