News: BACK IN BUSINESS: PR opens up June 15. The quakes are over, and so is the curfew and most restrictions. Beaches and restaurants are basically all open.

Casa Coral is located in a very private setting right on the water, with a pebble beach and a cove to get into the Carribean to swim or snorkel. A couple restaurants, Island Scuba, boat launch, fish market, and sand beaches are all in walking distance.

Le logement
Casa Coral is located in a very private setting right next to a wildlife refuge (Punta Jorobado). It is right on the water, with a pebble beach and a cove to get into the Carribean to swim or snorkel. Island Scuba is a 3 minute walk, and the Playa Santa sand beach is less than a 10 minute walk. There are some smaller sand beaches even closer by (Manglillo, Tranquilo).
Fun fact: Casa Coral is the southern most house in PR.
The house is not very big, but has everything you need. The central spot is not the living room, but the large terrace that wraps around the house. You will watch the ocean, birds (pelicans), boats, kayakers, anglers, and whatever else is going on. The pelicans are regulars, and sometimes there are dolphins a few 100 ft away playing in the ocean. According to the neighbors whales also come by occasionally. We currently have only one bedroom available with a queen size bed. There is almost always a breeze which keeps you cool and the bugs away. The roof extends over the terrace, so even during the occasional rain shower one can sit outside. It's an ideal place for people who love the water. As you get in at the cove you'll immediately see some fish and the corals are right there. 100-200 ft off shore corals and fish are plentiful. And when you come back you can hop right under the outdoor shower. There is nothing between the house and the ocean but a few palm trees. Note that all pictures are taken from the property, unless many other listings that show beaches 10 miles away.

Accès des voyageurs
Guests have access to the entire house, except: (a) part of the garage, which is locked and where we keep tools, etc., and (b) the second bedroom. It's not locked, and there is a table inside that may be used for computer work, There is a sofa sleeper in the second room in case you need a separate bed ( please let us know beforehand) but we prefer to keep the room for us

Autres remarques
Check-in/out times: We have set the times so that someone can check in on the same day that the previous guest checks out. If you wish to check in earlier or check out later, please let us know, and we will try to accommodate you.

WiFi: NEW: We replaced the hotspot with a cable router. No longer any restrictions. More reliable than cell hot spots, but your phone can still work as a backup.

Printer: There is a B/W laser printer that you can use. It hooks up with a USB cable. Works right away with MACs. With Windows it may require the installation of the right driver.

TV: There are two TVs in the house. The one in the bedroom is not connected, but you could hook up a laptop with HDMI. The living room has a larger TV with a Roku box attached. It has a whole bunch of apps on it, including Netflix and Amazon Prime. If you have a cable provider at home, you may be able to get most of the channels you get at home.

Grill: There is a propane gas grill on the terrace that you can use. Please clean it after use. Also, if you run out of gas, let Garie/Lisa know, there is a full propane tank in the garage. Alternatively, refill at the hardware store in Ensenada (opposite to the Catholic church).

Emergency power: Power goes out occasionally in PR. We have now installed solar backup power. Not quite finished yet, but the 325W panel is already on the roof and a 200Ah battery installed. Just needs some wiring still. Should be completed 7/1/2020 and provide around 1kWh power for electronics and the fridge.

General note: The last 8 meters (24 ft) to the water is public land. Occasionally people come by to fish in the evening. Every other week Philippe comes by to do some landscaping. He only speaks Spanish.

Playa Santa is a quiet place during the week. Over the weekends many locals come into town and you will hear some music in the distance. However, all the action is at the beach, not near Casa Coral.

Things to do:

- Snorkeling/swimming right out of the cove. Not every day is a good day for snorkeling and sometimes when the sea has been rough visibility may be poor. However, visibility is always better in the morning (before 9-10) than in the afternoon.

- Snorkel tour with Island Scuba. From the terrace you can see their boat going out every morning around 8:30.

- Dive with Island Scuba. The movies on their web site will get you itching.

- Playa Santa beach, 10 min walk. Has kayaks, jetski for rent. Also, on weekends the kids "fun boat". You'll see it from the house.

- Jungle beach. 5-10 min drive. Wonderful sand beaches and totally quiet during the week, but can get crowded on weekends.

- Gilligan Island, 20 minutes drive. PR-333 off 116 to Gilligan Ferry. For ~$10 skippers bring you to the island, drop you off, and pick you up a few hours later. You don't even need to snorkel, the fish swims right around your feet in the mangroves. Of course, snorkeling makes it even better. The favorite PR pastime is standing in the water and drinking beer or Pina Colladas.

- Ballena and Tamarindo beaches, 20 minutes drive. Turn into PR-333 in Guanica and drive all the way to the end. Very private, no crowds, not even on the weekend.

- Parguera, 25 minute drive. You can see Parguera from the house. It's a touristy town with lots of restaurants and watersports options. You can rent you own boat and go to the islands off Parguera, or book a tour for excellent snorkeling or diving.

- The biolumineascent bay. Tours from Parguera at night. A lifetime experience, and there are only very few places in the world where you can do it.

- The Cabo Rojo light house (30-40 minute drive). There is a nice beach next to it: Playa Suica. Only go there during the week, because it's crowder on weekends.

- Combate beach, 30-40 minute drive. Touristy, restaurants, and a 3 mile long sand beach that you have pretty much for yourself during weekdays. Also noteworthy for the salt ponds between Combate and the light house.
